  1. have you tryed tweaking your suspension set up, may be try more preload and damping to get more spring for big ups. instead of trying to get more power.
  2. yeah use the clutch, it seems stupid not to, your not trying to shave milliseconds off a lap time. your travelling at like a couple of mph. you want to use 1 and 2 for most stuff such as tights turns and over rocky stuff. 1st is usually better as 2nd can some time make the bike pull away bit to quick if your not carefully and loose your balance and composure on rocks. if your going for big step ups, up rocks then its 2nd or 3rd. on my sherco 3rd is better for this than 2nd but all bikes are geared different. 3rd and 4th are what you want to use for hill climbs, may be 2nd for banks and small climbs.
  3. i ride the top route in clubs comps around lancashire area and i only ever use my back brake really when going down hill. front brake or clutch offers much more control i feel and if picking way through rocks then no brake at all is best and use the clutch and momentum your already have and go at a constant pace. even when going up kickers or steps theres no need to use the back brake really unless your stopping dead. you need both feet to balance and if you relie on your back brake then once youneed to throw your right leg up in air for balance your buggered. you notice this in top level trials alot, it looks like they have the bike held on the back brake when still against an obstical but its usually the clutch against the front brake to leave there feet free.
  4. i thought ohlins wouldnt work on the 2010, and it was only the TRP that would. its not fouling somewhere is it ?
  5. ive got a 290 2010 bike and im wanting to know how to adjust the forks, ie what does what on top of the fork legs. any helps appreciated thanks

    2 Stroke Mix

all the bikes ive had have been 50:1 which is 100ml per 5litres.
  7. its a silly easy mistake to make with the way its routed and something anyone with this bike should look out for. as its not usually something you think of when screwing a mudguard down.

    Sherco Paint

correct me if im wrong but the tripple clamps are aluminium so if your doing it to just protect the material i wouldnt bother
  9. pritty sure ive found the problem. i found to intent lines on my tank breath so i must have screwed the mudguard down on it. which is really easy to do with how its routed. so ive moved it to go down inbetween tank and exhuast and cut it there so it cant be nipped and no longer comes out the bottom of bike so less likely to be blocked. also fitted a fuel filter as a caution.
  10. does anyone know if the breather is fitted with a one way valve? i blew through it from the bottom and it was ok but when i sucked or tryed from the tank end nothing happened.
  11. ^^^ it uses a fuel pump so that shouldnt be an issue really i havnt had chance to look yet but im thinking it could be the tank breath as mines routed as standard, but ive also had the tank off so i could of nippid it by accident refitting it. ill post up if i find the problem to help others in the future.
  12. went to my first competition in years today but things dint go to plan with the bike. first of all i left the choke on and went off riding after about a couple of min the bike cut out and wouldnt start. i thought it must have beggered the plug up running rich so changed the plug which was alittle black. eventually i got it to start but not striaght away. now it ran fine for a lap and abit, but then it cut out in away as if it was starved of fuel. and then it was game over for the comp. now im putting it down to crap in carb, has anyone else got any ideas? im going to fit and inline filter before fuel pump and see if this cures the problem. but wondered if anyone else has had this happen or has any ideas.

    Suspension

i absolutely love it, plenty of power there when you need it, but its not to overly aggresive in feeding the power so ive found there to be bags of grip, in dry dusty conditions, yet to ride it in wet so cant say. the front end has a super light feeling making it manouverable. the only thing im not liking on the new shercos is the gearbox, its crap for selecting gears, susposidly theres something on it to stop false shifts, dont know if thats why, but its really notchy and can be a pain to go between gears in middle of section under pressure. i personally would go for the 290 over the 250 as theres 50quid in it, and if you can handle a 250 you arnt going to find the 290 trying to pull away from you or feel much in weight difference, plus extra power is always handy.

    Suspension

ive got the new 2010 290. and am finding the rear suspension abit lazy for my liking, so was thinking about winding the spring tighter to get abit more bounce. i just wondered how many people have played with the suspension on theres? or have people found it to be ok and left it as standard.
