Hi Everyone, time for your cleverness again I was just finishing up getting my Rev 3 (08) back together after having the stator rewound, when a load of fuel started to P**S out the overflow from the carb, never seen this before on the bike although its fairly new to me, but it has been stood for 3 weeks doing nothing whilst I was geting the rewind done. Is there anything that I should look at in the carb other than the valve and seat and the float level?? It appears to be leaking from the overflow that looks as though the take off is on the bottom of the carb if that makes any difference? Started second kick after its rewind btw, won't be long now till the falling off starts again ..lol

Thats poor to say the least, thought I may avoid these issues buying a late in the producion run machine.It makes no sense when the problem has been so well documented.

Thanks everyone, I have spoken to both Lampkins and Steve at Motoplat - sounds like the stator Shame as Ive only ridden the bike 4 times since owning it. I hope the electrics on the new evo have been improved!!!

Whilst my stator is away for a little tlc with motoplat I'm going to go over the bike to prevent other 'known' issues, I havn't got a problem with the water pump housing, no leaks etc, but after having drained the coolant it didn't look like coolant i've ever seen before I will be flushing the system and using putoline NF has anyone else tried it?? Says its 'magnesium friendly'! cheers

Ok cheers for that, after doing some more reseach yesterday, the stator is looking like the culprit here I have ordered a flywheel puller - will report back and let you know the outcome Thanks

I have removed the rad this afternoon, I am confident the wiring is all in good nick and correct, I have no lighting wiring, andhave had a good shufty through this and mine is spot on http://www.newenglandtrials.org/Beta_wiring.pdf I have now removed the coil / cdi and regulator, just need to know how to test them, also how can I test that the stator is working / or not I have a multimeter, not much idea how to use it, but sure I can manage this .. need to - I have no brass to take it to a dealer Thanks everyone for the help so far

I have checked all the electrics out, nothing silly going on their, all connected as they where, just need some feedback on diagnosing I think

Not the kill switch have disconnected that, other wiring looks fine .. this is starting to feel like its going to be an expensive fix!! I have no idea how to test if its the stator - cdi - rectifier ..bit stumped really?? Also I guess I have to remove the radiator and all its gubbins to get access to the electric bits? Thanks everyone .. btw if it makes any difference the bike hasn't been playing up at all, no rough running, spluttering or anything like that, just died

Whilst out riding today, my rev3 250 2008 just died, went over a rock nothing dramatic as i'm a new rider, and the bike just cut out and wouldn't restart. I have changed the plug - nothing, checked sparking - no spark Where / how do I start to diagnose this problem, any help from the experts out is appreciated!! Thanks

Hi mate, I was at Earl Shilton when you started having probs (must be you lol)- I had them side wall punctures that evening on my mich Anyway just to let you know I had an IRC fitted the next day at Leisure Trail in Long Eaton - been fine no problem at all on the 08 Rev3 ..... just thinking its quite probably the same batch of tyres?? I fixed it All By Myself Unbeleivable I had a rummage aoound under the shrouds and found 2 yellow wires not connected to anything Join them up and hey presto fan-a-roony comes on. Time for a few of these Cheers all

Hi clever people I have recently taken ownership of a 250 Rev3 (2008), although I've not yet ridden it in anger, I can't get the fan to come on, only riding on a bit of land with very limited space - but i'm sure it must be getting hot enough - cylinder nice and hot to the touch Is there a way to test to see if the fan actually works?? Is there a possibility that the wiring is wrong?The previous owner removed all the lighting wiring - according to something I was reading 'somewhere??' the fan is powered by the same circuit on some models? Oh and is it a case of removing all the rad etc to get at the leccy's properly?? Look forward to some pointers with my new beasty Thanks learned friends

I have decided to change my lads bike to a beta Junior 80 - But where to find a good used one from ?? I will put a wanted add on TC classifieds when it allows me to register, but in the mean time does anyone know where else to look for one other than here, fleabay or pistonheads?? Thanks for help I have gone down to 2.5 sae fluid and reduced the preload by 14mm, just left enough to stop the spring rattling. On re-assembly I checked that shock alignment was ok, also very carfull fitting the brace and axle to ensure a nice smooth action. The result : excellent The bike now has about 30mm sag / Droop when he's on it at standstill, and he can actually compress the forks about another inch or so with his own weight - just need to work on technique now and keep feeding him pies

All, After my son riding his Rookie 80 (2007) for the first time in anger this week, it as apparant that the forks are too stiff for him to get hardly any movement from them when transfering his weight about on the bike - yes all 5 stone of it! so apart from feeding him up, I need to make the forks more suitable for him. I have stripped one side down to the point of removing the top cap, pulled back the plastic sleeve and undone the locknut - removed the topcap and spring, and drained the fluid According to the handbook it should have 140cm3 of fluid, I have drained 225ml from one side.I 'think' - according to google that 1cm3 =1ml. If this is correct, could this be the problem that the forks are overfilled?? Or would another solution be to cut the preload spacer / plastic tube down some to give the first part of the suspension more give? - if so how much? it measures 92mm long as it is - made of black plastic. Never done bike suspension before so thought i'd ask rather than cock it up Thanks in advance for any help / advise

Thanks, he's doing ok with his steering / foot pressure and counter-balancing by moving his weight about whilst turning, its amazing how quickly kids pick things up, by the time I get myself a bike he'll be way in front of dad

Hi All, I am currently attempting to teach my son the basics of riding, in the garden still at the minute (waiting for membership for estc club to come through). I have got him practicing tight turns round old swarfega tubs ( abut 2 meters apart) which he is getting much better at - but how do I explain slipping the clutch a little to him?? - Is this something he needs to learn right now or should I let him get on with enjoying himself!! He can ride down the patio steps (about 3 foot) and he's been over an old log which he loves doing, but I want him to learn the basics early on and not being a rider myself (not trials)am looking for ways / exercises to help him, might seem a bit mundane for him, but no doubt in the long run these basics are the most important skills to learn. He's 9 btw Any advice from those that have been there and done it / still doing it would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replys folks, certainly things to think about there, most important of all I think is to just get him riding to gain comfort and confidence on the bike then go from there
