Shocks That Will Take Some Abuse?!
I have been using my Fantic 240 to ride modern events on either the expert or inter route but this weekend seem to have blown the seals on both shocks. It currently has some betor experts on but I was wondering if spending more on some replacements (magicals/maxtons) they will be more likely to stand up to the abuse of bigger steps and drops than say some rockshocks? I know the rockshocks are re-buildable but in the long run do you think the higher end shocks will pay off in both strength and performance? All opinions welcome!

I Want To Put My Cota 200 On The Road
The fantic did pass! I was amazed no speedo was needed but two separate test centres told me I needed the same things. 1st centre was being awkward though saying the tyres weren't road leagal, even though it clearly said "in Canada and USA only". 2nd even showed me the Michelin order book which said they were legal in the uk!

I Want To Put My Cota 200 On The Road
I've just put my fantic through an MOT. All I put on it was an air horn (cable tied to the forks), a number plate and a rear reflector.

Phil King East Anglian
Some things can't be helped I guess?! As above though, a great job was done keeping the entry up to date with what was going on. Saved me around 5hrs of driving for nothing so was much appreciated! Fingers crossed you manage to find another date for what I've heard to be a great trial in the past. Thanks again.

Multi day european trials
Thanks once again. Have ridden the Manx a few times and if the classic's anything like the modern I guess its a really good weekend. Think as a starter i'll be looking at Aywaille. Really like the sound of the Spanish comps, just the distance that's a bit off putting. Lee, thanks for the heads up on the ferry, less time driving and more time for eating and drinking has got to be a bonus! Mattylad, thanks for the link, just the kind of thing I was looking for.

Multi day european trials
Quite a few to choose from then! Thanks for all the replys. With Eurostar being quite cheap it's probably as easy to get to Belgium/Germany/France as it is to get to Scotland, although like you say Ross, cracking scenery up there. Will have to have a sit down with a calender and map and figure out what I can fit in. Hopefully it'll be a busy year, just have to sell the idea of a few weekends away in the sun to the wife now, shouldn't be too hard?!?!

Multi day european trials
Right then, now the Fantic is nearly re-built I want to start making some plans for a trip (or two!) away in 2012! I've always fancied doing a trial abroad but it seems unless you know where to look they're not so well advertised. So... is there a definitive list of trials (ideally multi-day) for twinshocks in Europe (or the UK come to that) that shouldn't be missed?! If anyone has dates or links to the club sites it would be much appreciated! Thanks very much!

Brilliant! Thanks very much for that. Looks like they've got quite a few handy bits for sale actually!

240 clutch casing
Hi, Bit of a strange request really, but can anyone post/send a decent pic of the red 'engine plate' that is on the side of the clutch casing on a 240? Searched google but no use. Have had the casing cleaned up ready for a respray and have been left with a bare metal plate. No massive issue but might try and get a sticker made up so it looks a bit tidier! Cheers!

TL 250E 1975 RESTORE
Hi Mike, Have just had the paint chemically removed from the engine casings, barrel and head of the Fantic I'm restoring. It was done by Ribble technology (www.paint-strip.co.uk) and has come out really well. The metal doesn't get affected at all and I'm planning on having the frame/swing arm done this week too. Hope that helps! http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee385/Monamon13/397.jpg

New to twinshocks - and forum!
Hi all, Just a quick hello before launching into what will probably end up as a massive list of questions for you fine (and from what i've read so far very knowledgable) folk! Have been riding for about 20yrs now but decided to admit defeat with the modern stuff and have a do at this twinshock game! Have bought a Fantic 240 and am having more fun than I have in years. She's currently stripped and being prepped for a (hopefully!) great year of riding in 2012! Speak soon!
