  1. Hello, has any one had experience in getting rear shock rebuilt ? Mine has just started to weep slightly, getting a wee bit bouncy. Thanks.
  2. hi, got a reco 125 tl but there is, light oil seep from gasket what is the head re-tightening sequence and torque ? Cheers.
  3. Any thoughts on this, no airlock, motor not over heating,it did sit for about a month, when starting yesterday, noticed fan came on straightaway. i thought if the thermostats crook it usually stopped the fan working, is this a foible of gasser? Thanks in advance.
  4. ALL soerted thanks for help and advice. wouldnt you know it. the torx drive cap stripped ! So that made it very interesting removing seal etc. Also did the oring in head, noticed a bit of reaction on the alloy, whats the best coolant ? Cheers.
  5. thanks once the water pump is removed how do you remove seal and shaft ? have taken circlip off.
  6. thank you, i have the replacement kit for the current pump and the o rings, any secrets or advice for the waterpump refit and O'rings on head ? get motor warm first before draining gearbox ? Flush gearbox with ? to remove moisture residue ?
  7. Jim thank you. advice invaluable. my pump housing looks different from the posted one, tried to post pic gave up after about 30 mins. Mine has the (gold Screw ) torx on the out side casing, so best to replace whole thing ? the MT5000CT number is just for impellor ? Also pump just undoes from side casing , no need to remove side cover ? Noticed today milky scum in breather tube, and Gearbox oil just starting to go cloudy. thank you all for the replies, if anyone can help me post a pic that would be brilliant. Cheers..
  8. Thank you all for the info, rode comp for about 4 hours on Sunday, and no moisture or weeping out bleed valve, cleaning it must have helped? Surprisingl the detonation was reduced after dropping needle down 1 notch. But interested about the water pump seals, a sure sign would be some discolouration in the gearbox oil and some pressurization out the breather tube? Perhaps best for peace of mind replace seals on water pump, any one know part No.? or recommend a superior alternative> Cheers.
  9. Ahaa. it does have that, judging by the crud on the relief valve and carbon type coating on the filler cap. i have cleaned them both so will check after comp tomorrow. Thank you for the replies.
  10. Why thank you kind sir! I'll reset tomorrow before trial and try it out.
  11. To be fair i don't know, it was a pretty testy time getting dealer to realize that my concerns on bottom end had been present for 5-6 months and getting worse, tried to fob off as rattly clutch, but clutches dont rattle when riding or under load !.
  12. Now this is a curly one, after issues with faulty bottom end bearings, for some reason my the brass pressure relief valve beside the screw in radiator filler has started weeping, stops when fan comes on, i took cap off and it had like a carbon build up on the base and a bit of the thread of the main cap, also the relief valve was covered with gunk, not bad but a bit. I know its two stroke, BUT could the o'ring on the head be allowing pressure into the cooling system ?This is only recently happened, and it seems to coincide with a bit of detonation under throttle. I have dropped the needle 1 to lean it a bit, and will run in comp tomorrow. I did not when idling bike there seemed to be fine bubbles under a bit of throttle, just like a head gasket on a 4stroke car engine. Any thoughts anyone ? the level was down to the top of the internal fins, it was full after bearing surgery. HELP, thanking you in anticipation of some clever person knowing whats going on.
  13. I had to have mine replaced after about 8 hrs riding, under warranty after a huge fight with dealer, case hardening on ball bearings going. mind you mine is the 2014/15 eco 250 parts bins special so who knows of the origin of some of the parts?
  14. Finally after having to threaten with refund or replacement, was it taken seriously. Mechanic must have replaced the batteries in his ear trumpet, agreed 6 months after issue was first noted. SAGA! Bike was stripped, AND, you guessed it, big end bearings crook, TA DA! Jeez ! 3 weeks later still waiting for parts, ho hum here we go again. Doesn't reflect well in a lot of areas, distributor, reseller, and nut monkey. As is sadly all too common today, you don't find out how good or bad suppliers - resellers are, until you have a problem.
  15. How do i tell what year engine the bike has, No.s Read : GG251313050450. looking at that i assume it's a 2013 ?
  16. Saga, continues, bike picked up saturday. first ride on sunday, guess what ? as soon as its warm, the noise is louder and noticeable when under load riding, NOT clutch issue as i have been telling the bike shop for the last 3 returns to get checked. it sounds like someones thrown some marbles in crankcase. Sadly the precursor to this noise was not as noticeable originally and the mechanic couldn't or wouldn't pick it up. What really crippled me, was the salesmen remarking its a cheap bike, as if that's a justification for it to be substandard. it wasn't cheap to me, it was a lot of money. Could be an interesting week.
  17. So, answers, bearings ok, it turns out the noise is standard on some and not others, just luck of the draw, but, supplier did supply new clutch drive gears, whilst not admitting they are an issue, guess what ? Have fixed the noise issue, the rattle is ok std clutch op, seems some have different tolerances from manufacture. Turns out the distributor was not happy in accepting this as a warranty claim, hhhmmmm, BUT supplied replacement parts !?? Dealer agreed to cover the strip down and reassembly costs. So off i go and wear ear muffs, but value for money a bloody good buy, happy with it.
  18. Thanks for replies, I've done only about 25 hrs max and oil has been changed 4 times to their specs . The clutch rattle i can live with, but I don't think i'm alone that when you hear a pronounced unusual mechanical noise, on a nearly new bike you tend to only hear that and get suspicious. Sad thing i have had it to dealer before, for checking and was fobbed off by mechanic "it's fine can't hear a thing" HHHMMMM. Just ride it until it breaks and then we'll know whats wrong, jeepers! But as we all know they never breakdown near the transport , it's always the worst part of a climb or a long way from home, or right where forward momentum is crucial as to stop is NOT GOOD! Will pursue importer for warranty feedback and to ensure this time it gets treated seriously. would be really keen if anyone knew of documented or empirical evidence of bearing etc issues, 1 theory put forward was: as the motors are a few years old, if they had been stored on a cold floor there is a high risk of condensate / rust forming on bearings surface. Apparently was an issue with speedway engines a few years back.
  19. Help!! can anyone recall or had experience with the 250 2014 eco 250 with a pronounced rumble after only about 25 hrs total riding, it is not clutch rattle, but i suspect it is suss bottom end bearings, bloody disappointed in that its firs tNEW bike ever bought(bucket list) and have had 3 gassers before this 2 had, had a very tough life and were completely silent in engine these were at least 7 yrs old and untouched internally since new. I am wondering why after such a short time this model sounds not at all well. i am not a super serious top end rider, social grades, so it hasn't been abused and was progressively run in as per specs. Any thoughts or comments welcomed. Thanking you in anticipation.
  20. Thanks gents, i had an inkling it might be an air bubble thats why i started opening tank filler cap slightly. The fuel tap is original but doesn't have the brass tube on top of the tap inside, for the main feed or, the filter for reserve. 1 thing that points to fuel flow is the way the bike runs fine when the tank is getting down in level , say 3rd or 4th round. Thank you both for your replies, i will check and report back, the fuel flow is a good one to try i hadn't thought of that. By the way it starts brilliantly when warm, needs a tiny bit of choke on first start up but idles like a champion otherwise. Who said bikes don't have a personality? Cheers, mike.
  21. Gentlemen and others. My TY250 i think it's an A, has a KT brand carb on it (never heard of them in little old NZ.) Problem is: on the first and second rounds of a comp occaisonally when I give it some Welly, it goes really flat and won't rev out, and of course going up the steepest section it just runs out of puff and sometimes dies. I am sick of losing 5's, jets are clean, no crud in the filter, but, now this is strange, generally on the 3rd and 4th round it runs like a dream! Crank seals ok not pressurizing gearbox or blowing lots of smoke. I note that the filter (clear see through) doesn't seem to be more than 1/3rd full but when i tap the float bowl more fuel runs in. Yes i do run with the full filler cap slightly off tight incase there is a vacumm inside the tank. Main jet is so big that there is not even a number on it. Also occaisonally it's really flat after a small climb. Any thoughts or recommendations gratefully received. Sirsherco1 Christchurch NZ.

Nice mate, really knows how to brighten up your christmas. Was the engine shut off before you dipped your headlights ? Did you immediately turn bike upside down and drain the water out of the plug hole? Did you run it again straightaway until it got hot / operating temperature ?(or rust will develope on all the steel surfaces) And last but not least , if you ran it again ,was it ticking or more rattley than before ?
  23. I would hope that Sherco are successful in blocking these parasites, from sale or manufacture, they've spent a heap of money promoting and developing this FINE brand.
  24. Shift to new Zealandfor the ice cream? Are you serious? Well, you could do worse ! Like give up trials riding.
  25. AAHHH the trials and tribulations, think of it this way, would i prefer to be a spectatator in a wheel chair forever OR? would i be better to take step back, think to myself, i have a lot to be thankful for and at least i can still get out there when and how i please ! After all it is a trial (test),not an ease. Or, you could shift to New zealand, where you can get a carpark anywhere, drink the water out of the tap without gagging, the icecream is the worlds best and! if you get bored there are probably two million acres that you can play on without 5000 little darlings on their MX bike s riding 'round with a death wish and searching for the next cheap thrill. Also get a lesson, one on one, from a good rider who can give you at least three good pointers to help you gain more confidence. You'll be surprised! Good luck .
