  1. Poor Screwdriver has now given up on this bike due to crankcase problems (water leaks etc). does anyone know who might sell a spare engine or even if another engine off a different bike will go in? Seems a shame to get so close only to be beaten by ally rot.
  2. Just suggested to my Bro that his 11 year old lad might like to take up trials in order to give him a direction other than to end up with the detrius of society strutting about demanding "respec" off everyone. I'm sure he'll be well up for it and I'm nore than happy to take him out and teach him what little I know, but here's the rub (the usual one), as far as I know, there's nowhere to ride in the Southend and Essex area. I have my usual club in Berko but that's a bit of a stretch from Southend. Maybe Poles Wood could be a goer but it's a bit dull by all accounts. Has anyone ever successfully (or almost successfully) convinced a council to rent some land for trials or is it just a case of all motorcycles are evil m'kay and must be discouraged? The way I see it is that if you offer a yoof something he can be good at that requires some discipline and commitment, he MIGHT just decide that it's worth hanging on to and not just peeing up a wall. Dunno, any thoughts?
  3. I hope this isn't my old bike. Is it green/white/red and in really good nick except for mangled fork top bolts?
  4. If your stator is nadgered then West Country Windings will be able to re-wire it. If a magnet has fallen off then it'll be stuck to something or smashed into a million bits surely?
  5. I can beat that It's a 1965 Dodge 880 Custom if anyone's interested.
  6. Oooh, thanks Sean and thanks John Hird, whoever you are
  7. Maths not being my strong point, I've been looking at those fancy pre-mix containers like the Accu-Mix. Problem being that the Accu-Mix apparently only goes to 50:1 when the Montesa manual states 80:1 (or maybe 70:1). Has anyone got round this problem or bought a similar product?
  8. Just thought I'd report back. I fitted the Mitani kit and it's 100% better, nice and smooth, very light, no drag and a nice big sweep of clutch bite. Comes with one less plate than stock and all the steel plates you'll need. Running it on Putoline and it's just fine. Cheers Ned
  9. Well maybe not EXACTLY like that but trials has a tremendous potential to be a huge spectator sport and massivley popular. It needs to be open to new things to avoid it dying on it's ar$se like speedway.

  11. So it's not just me then? That's a relief. Blasted thing nearly launched me into the Grand Union Canal after throwing me into some nettles My bad really, fluffed a turn, pulled the clutch in without getting off the gas, feathered the clutch and WHAM! I was on my butt, in the nettles with the canal trickling along 12" away from my front wheel Oh, can I use regular gear oil with the Mitani conversion or only that stupidly expensive ELF oil.
  12. I'm finding the clutch a little unforgiving for a learner such as myself and was wondering if a master cylinder with a smaller piston would expand the current on/off clutch action into something a little more friendly. It's an AJP MC.
