    Diagnostics cable

Well I finally got around to making up a spare diagnostics cable. I have BTWICE one, but got the USB TTL interface a couple of years ago to make some more. I used another user here (darn if I can remember name right now) for the TX/RX and ground pins (already knew power from battery ones). Worked great! I tested my BTWICE first, then the one I made. I had to pick a different COM port that matched to the new cable I made, but the driver I had worked great. I see where you can download drivers for the USB interface I used also. I was running under Win7, reset the TPS and a few other tests. I did not try loading new maps with it though- but I expect it will work just fine.
  2. I did some searching, but didn’t see any answer. Is there any sort of Service Manual available for the Vertigo? software for the FI with diagnostics etc?
  3. From what I could tell by the EM site and a video I saw on it. The clutch is after reduction. Flywheel with different weights is on the end of the motor. Clutch does have oil. I’ll see if I can find the site showing that.

    K-Scan for Ossa

I tried sending you a message- but you cannot accept them? Send me your email and I’ll send you a working link
  5. I was thinking the Explorer just had extra connections for the lights/turnsigs/brake lamps etc. I have an Explorer, but I don’t think I have ever seen an Explorer specific diagram. what part are you needing info on?
  6. My bikes seem very sensitive to Spark plugs. I would replace it, even with the low hours. I had to go up a heat range too, the stock was too cold.
  7. I have tried a few different maps, I forget which one is in there now- for my Explorer I think the latest 280, I never got around to doing a map switch, so the dual maps that could be quite useful for me I’ve not really tried. I think my (now sold) 300 factory had the latest 300 termi map. this is that bike, had not been started in 3 or 4 months I think. you can hear the fuel pump run when I push the ‘super easy start’ button I added (full 12V to fuelpump/ecu etc)

Did you get the software? There has been a few postings on how to build a lead. I have the parts to do so, but have not made time to do it (I already had one)

    K-Scan for Ossa

Yes, the Factory 300 I had (recently sold) had the Termignoni exhaust. I have a Beta 4T 300 factory also, it is much, much ‘calmer’ than the OSSA. But it also weighs quite a lot more (about what my OSSA Explorer weighs). I thought the Beta was quite similar in reaction to the Explorer. I don’t remember what the Beta has for a throttle.

As a note, the 300 Factory I owned was VERY aggressive. I used the ‘slow’ map switch position, changed to slow throttle and installed one tooth larger countershaft sprocket to tame it down for my ‘intermediate’ skills. I am not sure how much difference between the factory and standard 300 models.
  11. Thanks, it does look like the FD460 or EBC shown
  12. Anyone know what other bikes use the same front brake pads as the 15 Factory 300? They do not have locating pins, but rather rounded areas that lock into the caliper.
  13. The bushes I’ve seen have part numbers on them from the manufacturer (Not OSSA). I source them that way and buy them by the 10 pack. I ride in mud a lot and they don’t last long. I have one of the Titainium linkage setups on my Explorer, and it has zerk fittings so I can push fresh grease (I use silicone/teflon) through and (hopefully) push out much of the mud. That helps a lot.

    TR280 fuel cap

Lewisport had a nice alloy one. I have one and it works really well. Darn stocker was a bugger
  17. I’ve found the OSSA injection to work really well. But I also fit a tiny LiPo battery to fire up the fuel pump and wake it up. The factory Easy Start worked pretty well (if the rechargeable battery was replaced/recharged every so often)- but the one I fit also was a quick and dirty diagnostic too, plus if you run out of fuel it would prime it right away.

    K-Scan for Ossa

The software was freely shared by OSSA even when they were still active. (The owner says they are making e-bikes now, would Iike to start motorcycles again. But I’ll believe that when I see it).

    Red Ossa 303 TR80

Looks great! My understanding is the biggest issue with the OSSA gearbox in general is if it has improper shimming. They are sort of time consuming to properly shim (so I understand, I’ve never done it).
  23. That looks much like my 1970 Pioneer 4-speed did. The ‘scrambler’ tank was used on some, others used the larger fuel tank.
  24. On mine, no black and white wire is connected (I didn’t notice one NOT connected anyplace, but I’ll look again). The black wire is in the centre connector, the yellow/green is next to it on the outer edge. I didn’t see any markings or anything. I believe it is just a ground to the kill circuit- but I could be mistaken. I’ll have to look to see where the yellow/green goes (I forgot about looking for it). Could be it is connected into the easy start?
  25. I thought I posted a reply to this already- but now I dont’ See it. sorry for the delay (and all the dirt!)
