  1. I've been offered a reasonably priced Beta rev 4, it has a small oil leak and is a small coolant leak. The coolant is not mixing with the oil. Anybody any ideas? If there simple fixes I'm happy to take it on, but don't want to get spending a fortune on it if it turns out to be a dog. Are these known issues with the Rev 4? Thanks
  2. Recently took the bash/skid plate off my beta rev 2008 and I'm having a right chew getting all the holes aligned to get it back on. I've currently managed to get 3 sorted but the 4th is about 5mil out at the moment. Are there any hints or tips to make this easier? I had a quick google, couldn't find anything but there was a video on youtube of a guy putting one on a Honda CR MX bike, and he laid the bike on the side rather than on a stand!! Any help greatly appreciated.
  3. What do you use Dan Williams?
  4. Recently bought a 2008 rev 3 250 and want to change the gearbox oil. Looked at other posts on this forum and some people say ATF some say mobil 1, the manual says Bardahl 20w40. Can someone give a straight forward answer lol, Also is it 550ml that is the recommended volume, Thanks
  5. Thanks for the advice. The clutch plates had just been replaced before i bought it which is why I feel there must be an easier fix than stripping the clutch out. Seems top notch gearbox is a must though.
  6. I'm new to Trials and recently bought a 315r. Got home, fired her up put the clutch in and the bike stalled. I've since read that this is a common problem and I should wait until the bike is at running temperature, however I didn't at the time. So.... I bled the clutch. Once bled there was no pressure on the clutch lever. Drained all the fluid out again and now I can't get it to bleed!! Anyone provide me with some advice. I'm planning to strip the clutch out at the weekend, but I'm hoping someone can give me some advice to save the hassle. Thanks Stoker
  7. Thanks for all your advice. I've landed myself a what looks like a nice monte. Picking it on Friday, just need to learn to ride it properly now. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Montesa-Honda-315R-Trials-Bike-/251427591994?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=nddzxb6YFxpV4hFVQSqgx%252B%252FLEhM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  8. Thanks for the advice. The Beta 200 sounds very appealing, but in my trawl through the classifieds they seem very few and far between. I've looked at 315r's too and also read elsewhere these were decent to start on, but there prices seem to be significantly higher than other makes of trials bike. Is this purely down to the fact they're bulletproof and reliable, or does supply and demand play a part too. There are a few about I've seen but no where near as many as Sherco, Beta and Gas Gas.
  9. I'm sure this post has been done to death, but I'm getting more confused the more I read about things. I'm wanting to start trial riding for a bit of fun, nothing too competitive as yet. The last time I rode a bike was about 25 years ago and it was Yamaha TY175, the bike it's self will have been at least 10 years old at the time and you needed a crane to lift the front end up (you get the picture). I want something suitable and reliable but also something manageable, that won't fling me off at every opportunity. From what I've read the beta rev 3 seems to come recommended, but I don't really know. My inital thoughts were to go for something older but in good condition, there is a gas gas contact 1997 not too far away that is excellent, but I'm now thinking that might be a bit too old and heavy compared to modern machines. I also almost bought a Sherco 290 but when I looked at some footage on youtube, 2 guys mucking about were thrown off 6 times in the 5 minute video. Any help or thoughts are much appreciated and I'm sorry if I'm treading over old ground here.
