  1. Stripped back end down and found all needle roller bearings where rusted and seized up in swinging arm and two linkages, having a lot of bother getting old ones out in swinging arm, but sure I will get there. Does anyone know where I can get new bearings, without going to Motorbike shop (where I will pay over the odds, no doubt). Mail order or somewhere in North East, I Live near Durham.

    cheers

  2. Can anyone think why the rear brake on my TXT280 has gone soft with pedal going right to stop now. Brake has been great for a while, tookme a lot of time to bleed it last time. Can't see any leaks anywhere- do you think it could be seals at pedal end? Cheers in advance.

  3. Yes I agree, he was brilliant on the night- give him another year and he may be a force to be reckoned with in the indoor scene. Good night at the event , but we had crap seats right on front row and was a big wait between 2 halves- could have found some entertainment to put on (with Marco not there). The sooner they put a big screen on at Sheffield the better, then everyone can see everything. With the loss of Hawkstone, this is our only event that could be a world round lets hope it is soon.

  4. Anyone else had trouble with these breaking, my mate has 2005 model and is on his third one. He is having to wait for another as apparently there are none in this country! He is sure he is fitting them correctly.

  5. I was very suprised to see a couple of Yamaha Pinkies competing in the Scott on Saturday, and i think one even finished. Who was the guy on this , he got the biggest cheer through Underbanks. Great day, congrats to Dougie he's still got some in reserve.

  6. I have an 02 txt edition 280 gas gas, which has an annoying noise which sounds a bit like knocking- I get this noise when backing off throtte and not when on power. Bike runs fine apart from noise.I fitted new piston rings but this did not solve the problem, checked bearings for movement up and down and they were ok (big end and little end). Could it be that the actual piston is worn? Bore of cylinder looked fine with no step to indicate any wear. Please help, cannot afford to take it to bike shop for fix.

  7. Sheffield was as good as ever, sections were even harder, especially in reverse as Dougie found out to his cost. At halfway stage he was leading and looking back to his best form, but the Montesa man was found out by the big jumps and even fell on his final race-he was not in contention then though. Raga took pole spot with Tony Bou as runner up. Marc Vinco was terrific at half time with his cycle skills and I was the one who caught his shirt in the crowd - it stank! Wonder if Dougie would benefit from a return to two strokes, think Beta may be a couple of riders short now. Happy new year to all. :bouncy::wall:

  8. Just had 2 days trying to sort out back brake after banjo came loose, finally got it sorted. Thought I should put method on here. Undo caliper on back wheel, undo master cylinder and take off hose from top up reservoir which is on master cylinder. Next fill a plastic syringe with fluid and pump through from this point on master cylinder- crack off bleed nipple, while pumping through you must keep turning caliper so any air can escape from it. When you are sure there is no more air in master to caliper run (test by pushing up inside master for any sponginess - leave syringe on when doing this.) remove syringe and reconnect top up reservoir pipe. Fill top up reservoir and then flick pipe with your finger and you will see bubbles rising to top of level - keep repeating till you are sure all air is out- takes a few minutes to do. Do not be tempted to squeeze pipe with pliers on last step as this will pump air into master and you will have to start all over again -I speak from experience. Hope this helps someone.

  9. Can anyone tell me how to set and check timing on my bike, engine is making an unusual noise after revving and letting it die to tick over. Power is still there and starts first time but feel could be timing that is problem.Sounds like it is firing again inside barrel? :chairfall:

  10. Just done my first trial at Consett club in a quarry, entered in clubman as my mate was in that, but I fived nearly every section. Was really nervous throughout the whole event, big rock steps and vertical stuff was my downfall mainly - kept looping bike! Observer said I should have entered easy trial. For the last lap and a half I did, but this was a bit too easy. Really gotta practice steps and straight ups, cannot get out every week though and think you have to. :P
