  1. This means less time for practicing moto-trials intill its fixed!

    16.0 OVS vertical Briggs engine.

Symptoms: Ran out of gas, chug, chug, chug. Filled tank, but would not start, opened air box, she slightly back fired a few times.

Pulled carb and cleaned well, still will not start, open rocker cover and noticed top rocker very loose, inspected push rod and looks good, tighten rocker up.

Now, starts right up, but top rocker arm will not tighten to eqaul tension as lower rocker, much play but starts well, makes much tap noise.

So, is it a broken valve? What should I do next?

  2. So funny Biff,

BradH, myself and several others were bad mouthing the American border post cops for being so rude coming back in the states during one of the MOTA events, well on the way back home I had a person that actually was friendly with no attitude, amazing!

One time I had a man that was maybe Nigerian working the post, he was so nasty to me, he addressed me in a sturn tone, take off those sunglasses!

I thought he might end up pistol whipping me. All I could think of was what nationality are you bozo!!!

Who's going to show, Jim, Biff, Sam maybe Brad and Gray I hope! Aaron, I think will be in NM at the nationals.

TIM HORTON Coffee here I come, hoosier hillbillys love that stuff!!!

  3. Doug,

Set your bike up as a single speed, you allready know I'm sure, but the spacer kits are cheap. I've seen people actually using springsteel type tensioners fastened to the chain stay, this eliminates the clumbersome derailure hanging down in the way.

  4. I actually have had a couple trials bikes, the first a Echo Pure long frame, bought as a complete bike from Webcyclery. Then I bought a BT 5.0 from Poland and now I have a BT 6.0 Raven. But now I would like a BT 7.0 because this new frame has horizontal drop outs, direct drive!

Something to keep in mind is brakes, I've had Hydraulic brakes and they are a pain in the toot! Both magura's and Hydro disk. I'm very happy now with V-brakes in the back and Advid mechanical disk in the front!

I like Stock over mod, but if could afford it I would own a Mod long.

I'm saving for a uni-cycle, I would like to ride a uni-cycle and play my claw hammer banjo, thinking of joining a circus! :D

  5. Doug,

The P1 would work great, I would shop at Nashbar bike or Performance bike online and find some really wide bars at the lowest price. A short goose neck thats tall would be desirable, also I like ridgid forks, but I've seen great moves made with suspension forks. Take off the big chain ring and replace it with a middle chain ring gaurd for slamming logs.

As you progress, later on use a more abusive rear wheel, Sun Rims, Rhyno Lites are cheap and could be used. Big tires are nice, be carefull too big of tire on narrow rim will fold at low pressure.

I'm only thinking little expense here starting out, I'm 39.9 years old and weigh 190 and suffer from baldness, please take my advise with a grain of salt!

  6. Doug,

You may want to save your money and start bike trials on a converted Mountain Bike. If you want a bike for your self start on a 26" MTB, I'll be glad to advise what parts you need to keep it cheap, I'm sure there is many people here that will chime in also!

Just learning the fundamentals in bike trials is a challenge, using a stock MTB you can even reach the stage of rear wheel hopping and doing rear wheel drops. Specific Stock trials bicycles is going to cost you between 1200.00 and 1800.00 new, maybe half that used. My level of bike trials is between Novice and Sport, so I'm no Expert, but have seen some really good bike trials riders on stock MTB's.

  7. I have a 2007 Sherco and they come with a 10 tooth front sprocket. I like

to run a 9 tooth front sprocket but find my chain/axel adjusters are in

the 8 1/2 position out of 9. Standard Sherco 520 chain is 100 links (not

including the master link). Removing two links from the 100 link would

make it too short (98)...as this is the minimum links you can remove at a

time. I have not been able to find 1/2 links nor a 99 link chain. Any

suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

  8. Its said that Lance Armstrong bought a GasGas last year!

Just curious, Does anyone actually know whether Ricky Carmichael rides trials or just owns a trials bike?

Mike Larocco Ive heard owns and practiced trials at one point, And I met a guy last year that was riding Jeff Statons old trials bike.

  9. Just wondering what techniques you guys use to grease those needle bearing in the linkage.

I just pack with grease, trap air and spin with my fingers.

It amazes me how much play developes in the dog bones after a short time of riding on Sherco's, are Gassers the same?
