  1. Having a hard time getting high octane fuel. What's the best way to drop compression a bit?
  2. I don't know if you can buy it outside of the States but GM Auto Trak II transfer case oil is great in the clutch. Smooth as glass.

    315R Knocking.

Adrian said it was. I have no idea myself.

    315R Knocking.

100ll won't cause any issues with fouling or anything? Going up a bit on the pilot sounds like a good idea. I'm much more familiar with PWKs then the oddball on this bike. I may try a PWK28 on it just for the tuning. I was going to sell it about a year or so ago. Still has nubs on the tires. Adrian at Lewissports said it was the last 315r imported into the US. I've been riding a 500exc and a Beta 300rr for a while but I think I can start riding it again.

    315R Knocking.

I live in Kansas and that statement is not true. The true culprits are actually the big food corporations like Archer and Cargill (just wait, Monsanto is after you guys too). Anyway, this isn't a political forum. I have a bit of an issue with fuel additives because I have the long range fiberglass tank. I didn't run ethanol because of this but I've moved to an area where I have no choice. I'm using Startron fuel additive to reduce the lilihood of ethanol damaging the fuel tank but that still leaves me with octane issues. Most additives have some form of alcohol in them, the last thing I need. Because of meth producers toululene and zylene are a tad more difficult and expensive to buy now too. It seems a mod to the bike is a good solution.

    315R Knocking.

Good fuel is very hard to come by in my area. Any easy way to reduce knocking? The only ones I can think of is adding base gaskets or retarding timing. Thanks.

    04 315 value.

It's in perfect condition sitting in my basement. Adrian said it was the last one imported. I also have the larger gas tank and seat. Unfortunately I had a really bad get off on a 450exc and can't ride the Montesa any more. I finally got back into riding with a GasGas EC300 but trials bikes are now ruled out.

    04 315 value.

Anybody have an idea what an 04 with about 2 hours on it worth?
  9. I did a search but couldn't find an answer. I'm looking at a Michelin X-11 tubeless tire and an X-11 tubed tire. For the life of me I don't really see a difference. Somebody please educate me, what is the difference? Thanks.
  10. I'm assuming it's a dollar/euro thing. When I was in Z

    Ec300 Enduro

I know this is a trials forum but anybody know where to buy Gas Gas enduro parts from? I'm looking for a headlight assembly for an 07 EC300. The US models don't come with the street legal bits. Unlike the trials bikes the GG dirtbikes are kind of scarce here. Thanks, Bill.
  12. Not to be a spoil but who cares what it looks like? How does it perform? That's all that matters.
  13. If nothing else it's amusing reading you guys. Bag of old spanners for an engine indeed. Your friends in the US aren't nearly as creative in our descriptions of things. On topic. If this bike is anything like the Chinese enduro bikes sold in the US then it won't be worth the air in the tires.
  14. I've toured an old Minuteman base in Missouri. It would make a really cool house but wouldn't work so well as a practice area. http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/facility/whiteman.htm
  15. I really hate to admit this but my 04 315r looks MUCH worse than that. For that matter it looked worse than that six months after I got it. My skills might be slightly suspect.
  16. I have been riding since 1963. Rarely was anybody concerned about bikes until the advent of quads. We flew pretty much under the environmentalists radar. I would agree that OHV users should band together but the wanton destruction caused by a significant number of quad riders only serves to continue to harm our sport. I've lost over 90% of the areas I used to ride and the number one reason by far and away have been directly attributable to quads. You live in California which still has significant areas to ride (although they are being closed with blinding speed). In the Midwest there is virtually no place to ride because property owners became sick and tired of the destruction and trash primarily caused by the ATV crowd. I own 600 acres in LaCynge, Kansas and I've also had to post no riding and enforce it because of the same issues caused by quad riders. I had many miles of technical enduro single track and trials areas built that were totally destroyed by quad riders with the added bonus of mountains of beer cans and other trash strewn about. I am deeply saddened that many individuals have lost respect for the privileges granted them which are causing all of us to suffer. ATV ownership seems to attract a higher percentage of these individuals. Unfortunately I have no idea what the answer is.
  17. Either I don't understand British humor or you guys are crazy. Quads are the sworn enemy over here.
  18. My 315R will not turn off if the engine is revving at high rpm with the kill switch. It works OK at lower rpms. Any ideas? Thanks.
  19. I use my Montesa quite often for trail riding, much to the chagrin of my riding partners. I'm still waiting for the larger fuel tank for the Montesa but the Hebo unit works rather well. A seat would be nice (I'm old) but I deal with it. I just picked up a KTM 200EXC which is the closest thing to a trials bike on steroids I've ever ridden. It doesn't weight that much more than the Montesa but has 12" of suspension and a rocket for an engine. It's like riding a mountain bike with a Hemi. I put X-11's on the front and back with a Rekluse auto clutch and I swear I could probably ride this thing on many sections with good results. Needless to say I think the Montesa and the 200E will cause my KTM 400EXC to turn into garage art. By the way, 5 Miles of Hell on the 400E was an interesting trip. I should have taken the Montesa.
  20. What is the difference between tubeless and tube type tires? I'm ordering a set of X-11's for my KTM 200 and they are available in either style. Of course I must use tubes in the KTM. I know the Montesa I have uses tubeless rear and tubed front but I don't know why. Just curious, thank you. Bill.

    1990 Zero

There's one on ebay. I have an 04 315r but the kid want's a bike to play with. I've never seen one. Are they any good? Are parts available? Thanks, Bill.
  22. Hate to resurrect an old post but has anybody found a supplier for the seat? I can't find anybody in the U.S. that can give me an answer. Thanks, Bill.
  23. Anybody know where to get the larger gas tank for the Montesa? The US distributors seem to be clueless when or if they will be available. Thanks, Bill.
  24. I agree that the stock plate is really poor if you use the bike for fast trail riding. I welded another 1/4" thick aluminum plate to the stock skid plate and welded ears on both sides to help prevent rocks from bashing the outer cases. Even with this mod I've had to pull the skid plate and bash it back into form. Some of the areas we ride in are nothing but endless rocks.
  25. Tell this to the CRF250 owners. The bike isn't quite sorted out yet engine wise. Oil burning issues have plagued the bike from day one. Honda will fix it though. It is possible that Honda could use a mechanical fuel injection pump thereby negating the requirements of a battery for starting. The power provided by the alternator could easily energize the ecm and associated sensors. At minimum a crank sensor, mass airflow and throttle position would be required. This would be very compact. A map sensor is really not required since the maf sensor could regulate fuel flow closely enough. Most other sensors on fuel injected vehicles are for emmisions/driveability reasons.
