    My New 06 Rev3

Thanks Richfr... Some here also recomended 450cc when using ATF... Thats what I added last friday... Ill go ahead and add 50cc more.... the clear plastic oil level visor , when the bike is leveled shows half full... The ATF im using is Dexron 6..which i was told to use from all the old fellows who ride Betas in my area.. is supposeed to be the best ATF fluid since is 6.... i already got 5 lts... Tomorrow afternoon after 3pm will be Wrench Session... jaajaa.... Cant Wait I enjoy working on the bike and knowing everything about it as much as riding it

    My New 06 Rev3

Thanks addict and vonhazza.. Ill write down my chassis and engine number and compare it as been told to find out.. Also great idea flipping the rear carb rubber boot to easier carb mantainence Now, I find too much freeplay on my throttle... i dont see the common bolt freplay adjuster at the Domino throttle assembly.. I have yet not removed the carb on my rev 3 ( because she is running good and im afraid to mess something up) rubber intake manifold and rear carb rubber boot both are really rotted and dry, with visible cracks..... ill wait until the new one arrives.... just to prevent ithe old one breaks or craks even more....when attemting removal of carb. So, the throttle cable has and freeplay adjuster at the carb end ?
  7. Hi, Is there a list of Online retailers who carry beta parts and trail goodies in USA ..' which are the most popular USA specific trais shops for parts and gear.. Tks
  8. On my experience on Gaernes SG12 and SG10 I own to ride mx & enduros... these boots are te best for guys with wide calfs... they do offer lots of room. My advice is Gaerne ! I dont own the Gaernes Trials Boots yet... But I will very soon get a pair... had sidis (really narrow fit) , alpinestars( they are non lasting)..fox (disposable after little use)... and Gaernes always lasted longer and the fit is really true to its size. If you wear 11 in running shoes then 11 is your Gaerne size... Sidis run really small.. Hope this helps you

    My New 06 Rev3

Hi Everybody , Wanted to share my happiness with yo all.. just purchased a 06 Beta rev3 which was in a shed unsed for a couple of years.. Opened the fuel valve , pull choke.. and she fired right up.. amazing for a bike stored and forgotten for years.. I come from a Extensive competition Enduros, and mx dirt biking and yesterday a gruop of trail riders took me to the mountain on my first ride... all i can say uufff.. this stuff is awesome... diffficult to adapt to this position due to my height..im 6'1'' and also coming from a full sized mx bikes.. the trial bike wasnt easy for the 1st hour... in the end I addapted really ell and began to understan that climbing really steep long sections speed is not the technique... is balance and momentum.. gas and clutch control... a total different attack compared to my full size ktm ... anyway.. this stuff is amazing !!! I hope i learn quickly and begin to clear all obstacles and sections clean ! No, for the bike...she was all dirty... stained... even the spokes on both wheels were totally atained with little rust... But after 2 days of scrubbing...and using meduim abbrasive sponges... noy she is really clean.. the way it shoud be ) this bike has been used... from what i can see she is not new ... but hopefully she has not been abused. I did changed the tranny oil.. with ATF Dexron 6... 450cc.. ( please correct me if the quantity is ok)... Drained all the old fuel... opened the carb drain plug... Added fresh fuel mixed with motorex 2 stroke cross power oil I had from my older 300 ktms i had in the past.. changed the grips... changed the handlebar..(old one was bent)... removed the chain and cleaned it... lubed it and installed back on..... greased the bearings at the head tube..and wheels.. Installed a new Air filter properly oiled.. and ordered both front and rear Carb rubber manifolds since they are dry and rotten... I heard from this forum that the carb on this bike is famous for p****** fuel...on and on.. Well on my bike no fuel leaks..either climbing or leaning tothe sides.. I believe im just lucky or the previous owner did something to it ... who knows... he is away and i was unable to talk to him directly.. bike was bought thru his neighboor whom really dont now nothing about dirt bkes.. Ill post some pics... Im really happy and looking forward to become and good trial bike rider !! Im tall and weight 230lbs... so the golden rule on enduro bikes and mx..is first to set the bike for my weight... chosing correct spring rates front and rear... perfect SAG... On this bike I believe ill need a stiffer rear spring... since I felt the tire rubbing te rear fender a couple of times.. and Ive never used a dirtbike without setting it right before attemting to go crazy and also compete. All advice is more than welcome from you all... This is my 1st Trial bike ever... so Im new to this and also new to Beta... So all tricks,,, advices... and tips will be highly appreciated ! Sorry for my bad grammar.. English is not my mother language... Im from Venezuela,.. and was fortunate to learn english way back at chidhood Im new here in TRAILS CENTRAL... this is my 3rd post... I was looking at a gas gas.. really clean.. but was advised from everyone who rides here that BETA was mor reliable and solid in every way... So Here I stand.. a proud owner of my 06 Rev3.. Is there a way to find out if my bike is a 250cc or a 270cc ?? the bike does not has any sticker and the previous owner said he didint knew... he believe is a 250cc. Cant wait from hear back with help and comments from you guys... thanks in advance
  10. Thanks to you all ..
  11. Hi Goudrons.. Thanks a lot for your advice... Other people here also advive me to get the Beta instead... I know ill have to replace the waterpump case cover...and both carbs rubber inlets... but i believe from what i saw here in the gas gas forums.. the 05 gas gas they have problem with transmission failures...engine cases breaking at the engine supports due to force from the base plate... and other details which kinda scare me a little. On top of that, all the really experiened old fellows whom im planning to ride with , they all told me to get the Beta... I believe its because all of them... like 20 guys all have Betas.. ( they have been riding for 30 years + and almost had every bike thre is )....from old ones to the new evos..and they love them and told me they were solid machines ! So I believe today im going to buy the Beta 2006 Rev3 , and strip her down..clean her , buy the parts needed.. ( ruber air intakes for the carb...front and rear ) and pray not to see any coolant on the oil... if that happens then just change that magnesium clutch cover ... which are the 2 known things I know ill need, and begin this journey of Trail riding after being on enduro bikes of my life...winning a handfull of national titles on A and then A vet...hopefully ill learn how to ride this trail bike quickly.. )) Cant wait !!! Ill keep you all posted on my experience of my riding Trails bikes !! And again You all will hear from me really soon... cause Im 42.. but when it comes to dirtbikes... I become like a 15 year old grommet... Tons of passion and heaps of competivity spirit ! Really thankfull of being a part of Trials Central !! Thanks Again ! Bless
  12. HI EVERYBODY !!! MY 1S POST I Need help... really Im getting a new trials bike.. ( my first one )... Just sold my Enduro bike and decided to get 100% into trail riding !!! asap So, Today I went to look at this GAS GAS 300TXT PTO 05 and... ) it looked really clean and started at first kick ...no oil dripping...no rust...no visible signs of abuse... It was really clean... played with it at the guys garage doing figure 8ts ... the clutch felt really progressive, all the gears engaged really nice... etcc etcc... Now,,,...in the other hand , there is a BETA 2006 rev 3 270 also i saw last week... this one started a little harder (took a little more to start ) than the GAS GAS .. went into all the gears fine.. idle was fine.. clutch feel was good too...but honestly,,this one, BUT DIDNT LOOKED AS CLEAN as the GAS GAS ..the rubber from the carb intake manifold both..front and rear were dry and a little craked...the pipe looked a little rusty...the handlebar was bent...the kick start lever was a little loose ... I was told that a 2006 BETA 80% of ((( all from 2002 to 2008 ))) will had a mandatory replacement of the clutch cover to replace it because a inminent corrosion problem at the water pump... they are supose to rot just behind the impeller...and eventually will leak coolant into the engine oil... Im 6'2" and weight 225 lbs. I come from riding Enduro an Mx bikes all my life...so in terms of adaptability i guess ill do just fine in the begining Im really anxious to hear all opinios from you guys..please feel free to share with me... Im about to get any of these 2 bikes for this weekend.... cant wait ! BTW, for the last 4 days (ill better say nights ) endless hours reading in boths forums BETA & GAS GAS ... everyone seem to have tons of info... knowledge and lots of passion for Trail bikes !!! I leaned a lot of tech stuff just by reading !! Now, advise between on which bike ( PROS & CONS ) is more reliable and solid ... or which bike takes more punishment For a begginer like me... and which bike will make me spend more time riding instead of more time fixing or replacing parts or wrenching at my garage ( were i live there is no BETA dealer.. but we have a GAS GAS dealr whom has lots of parts at hand,,service and advise ill guess. Im in Venezuela , South America. Thanks in advice.. Bless
