  1. "I might have liked to ride, as this USED to be a really great event...................BUTSER......who in their right mind likes riding at BUTSER !!!!............"

We are fortunate to currently have use of this ground and it has been demonstrated several times recently that it is quite possible to set an event for traditional bikes here as well as the British Experts. What is more unless there is a deep frost it is ridable in all other conditions even when soaking wet. It is very difficult to find ground to use in the South of England and much of our local terrain is set on or near steep chalk downland. Nevertheless I have seen a local school boy/girl club put excellent and ridable events here including routes for the lesser lights.

If you came I am sure I could show you some BSA friendly sections.

  2. By the look of that bar chart it would appear that people actually only become fit enough to ride trials after they reach the age of 50or after 50 they have enough free time and money to do it.  or after the age of 50 more people spend their time on forums.

Or could be there are fewer younger followers of Trials Central or worse motor cycle trials riding is going out of style.

  3. You could also consider insulation of the walls and ceiling if you have the room to fit it in.

A room with well insulated walls will up the comfort level even with a minimal amount of heat.

Also it will reduce condensation on metal as the space cools down as the cooling will be much slower and should retain some warmth for a considerable time, drafts permitting.

You need to build a stud wall inside the outside wall and fill between the studs (2 x 2, 3 x 2 or even 4 x 2 inches) with good insulation.

Here is Blighty we use 'Celotex' or 'Kingspan' it is easy to cut etc.

It's made of this stuff...   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyisocyanurate

Then screw 1/2 or 3/4 ply to the studs (we use oriented strand board its cheaper but rougher, known here as OSB) and you will need far less heat.

Make up something similar for the ceiling.

    Then you can move in!

Ps If its a posh job you would include a vapour barrier under the ply.

    Cheers

  5. I tested an Ice Hell 300 today Nov 26 (and a Camo 250) at the Hookwood Vertigo test. I am surprised that you are holding the throttle wide open is there a particular reason?

Although fuel Injected, and thinking of my experiences with Montesa 4rts and modern Ossas I was told, by the company rep, a little throttle was in fact ok, but not wide open.

Holding the throttle wide open was sometimes suggested on the FI Ossas to 'clear the pipes' if they had flooded.

I should also add the 'Ice Hell' seems a beautifully built and detailed bike, looks stunning in the flesh and is a joy to ride.

  6. One English rider, a friend with a good expert riding standard, in Japan last year for the World Round as a minder, was allowed to ride one of the 4T Yamahas (not KKs bike tho') and loved it!

Said it was a great bike the best has has ever ridden.

He also preferred it to the 4RT, 260s or 300s.

  7. I have the latest pair, the sizes of mine were out of whack. I ordered mine and in the dealers swapped them at once for a larger size which I have never needed for anything else.

So with these I suggest 'Try before you buy.'

I agree with comments that a diplomatic approach usually unlocks the doors quickest and easiest.

  8. I disagree about the similarities, at least on my recent  and#39;test' bikes.

Riding both a newish 260 standard 4RT and a similar 260 Repsol yesterday, both 2016 models over the same ground, I could easily tell the difference even if didn't look down.

The Showa suspension especially at the front end is a revelation, no wonder the Repsol model is more expensive.

It made me think what actually is the technical difference between a Showa fork and say the Tech or similar?

    Can anyone enlighten me?

  10. Look mate its bad enough being controlled by a strange, remote, unyielding organisation, with massive complex rule books and thousands of officials, also know as the ACU, without another one called EU!

    Enough U's I say.

Alternatively Blighty might become like Cuba with their old Yank cars kept going for ever as we could be dragging all those air cooled monos out of the back of the shed.

Or better still let's persuade Yamaha to sell those super light trick four strokes bikes to us instead. They're not in the EU are they?

  11. "Appears to be a bit of anti European sentiment about today"

Anti EU not anti Europe I reckon.

We all do our best to support the Spanish economy on this site every year.

Yorkshire is almost part of Spain judging by all the motos español they buy up there!
