I pushed it back in hard enough to deform the bottom of the tank (it's very thin plastic) and it sort of clipped back in. On seals no clips nothing! It held fuel ok but I've taken it off again (very easy to do and could be done by mistake) and glued it in place to with sealer that is OK with petrol. I'd recommend anyone with one of these tanks tank the tank off and put some good strong sealer like liquid metal round the joint so your doesn't come off in the first place. Not a great design I'm afraid. I can't see this making it through to the 2015 models.
Its not a bayonet. If you look closely there's no space below the bayonet looking bits. The recess is an exactly mirror of the tap part. It fits perfectly but drops out straight away. I imagine only someone else who this has happened to is going to be able to explain it. I'll call GG on Monday if I can't get it worked out before then. It's a 250 Pro 2014 model with the new plastic tank.
The tap just came off in my hand while turning the fuel off. I can't see what was holding it in or hold to refit it. It just pushes in and falls back out again. I'm missing something I know, I just dont know what. Has anyone else experianced this on a 2014 bike with the plastic tank?
Go back up the top if you read this on or after 8pm on the 13th of June. I've updated the initial post to point to the full and final version of the film.
My wee film following this years Highland Classic 2 day trial is now available. Not 5 mins longer and riders and bikes named. In HD and free to download. Beware if watching on a slow connection or downloading the file to keep, it's pretty big.
As the trial draws closer I've started getting a few requests for DVDs. I've still got a few 2011 and 2012 ones if anyone wants a copy. They are still £5 each plus £1 P&P in the UK £2.50 overseas. Paypal is simple. Just PM me if you want copies.
I'd give the carb a good clean to make sure there is no water in it. I ride regularly in cold conditions and have only had frozen carb problems when there's been some water in there. It happened the other day in fact so I quickly cleared the carb and it was fine again all day.
Lets wait and see what come of the SACU in a year or two's time when the extra income is banked. I've not been very impressed with the SACU of old but spoke to Sandy Mack the team trial earlier this year and got the impression something had to change, it couldn't just go on like it has for so many years. I still think the amount we pay for a days sport is about as little as any sport and a fraction of what it cost to go and see as Scottish premier league football match. Basically it will still be good value if it's £15 -£20 rather than £10 - £15.
I need your help folks. After 12 years with a goatee and ten years before that with a mouser, I've shaved and am taking part in Movember to raise money for cancer research and male cancer awareness. I need you help with donations big or small at http://uk.movember.com/mospace/5041557
The more I can raise the more chance I'll cover this ugly mug up again.
it would never have started without TC Andy and you know it. TC is the clubmans first point of call for all things trials (in English) and a main SSDT news site outside ssdt.org itself.
If you want to save the world from ebay then you can also just send the same money to me via paypal making sure you give me a good clear address and I'll send you a copy. I can also still ship 2011 disks if anyone wants one. Just add £4 and let me know that you want one in the payment text. I'll be shipping every day so you shouldn't have to wait long.
John, I was there for over an hour and you're right not one person got very far in to section 2 before fiveing. This was one of those sections where relaxed marking was rightly the order of the day. Jordi got a 3 for each.
