  1. Hi Guy's Hi Natalie. That Is Brilliant News. I would think If the current owner has any sense of Trials History, He will know that the rightful place for this piece of trials History, Is back with the family that made the bike famous! I do so hope you get it back, There is now, years of journalistic potential with this machine. And the people in the know must realise that? Pat Slinn, Told me a while ago, that he once rebuilt the engine for 92 HOH in the BSA comp-shop workshop, So I am sure we can get him on board for any information, ETC, about the engine unit. Anyway Natalie, give my regards to your Dad, and tell him I do so hope that he gets the bike back in his hands. And a Very Happy Christmas to you all. Charlie.
  2. Hi Guy's, Hi Dave, and Pete. I know your dad has again worked really hard on this project. But how long are you going to keep it for? I know your dads hands get twitchy if he cannot see another project in the pipeline. Brilliant job though Boy's. Regards Charlie.
  3. Hi Guy's, You "ARE" So right, of course Honda could do it, and a lot easier than you think!! They have a load of there stuff built by Chinese subsidiaries of there's don't they. And I bet somewhere in China, the jigs for a TLR, are sat in the corner of a huge factory. Jialing probably. They just need encouragement to be persuaded to make them. Someone like Comerfords in the 1960s, Could do the same today, or even Honda UK themselves. Regards Charlie.
  4. Hi Guy's Hi Natalie, I have been in touch with the man I told you about, who is sort-of from Yorkshire, and knows nearly everyone, in Classic Trials, and they have dealings with him. So he has kindly said, that he will do some delving for us. Let me know what happens with the Yorkshire Post? If I can help them, get them to e-mail me.( it is on my profile) Regards Charlie.
  5. Hi Guy's. Hi Natalie. I think our best bet is to contact the Yorkshire Classic Trials Club. I am sure one of there members may know something if asked the question. I have someone else ,that i will ring who may know, or will put the word a"Round" for me. Regards Charlie.
  6. Hi Guy's Hi Sparks, Thanks for that information. I had a feeling that Peter had died, Condolences to his family. I know what a hard time it is. The search will go on (as they say) We will find 92 HOH. regards Charlie.
  7. Hi Guy's Hi Natalie, I am trying to find information at the moment, I will get back to you when I know anymore. Unless any of you guy's on here know anything. It is part of "Trials History" we are trying to trace!!!! Even you younger ones must have heard of the sidecar stars of yesteryear???? It would be a superb Christmas present for Derek if we could come up Trumps. Regards Charlie.
  8. Hi Guy's I have just been watching a video clip of the said Rock God performing Elvis's Mess of Blues, at the Classic Trials Show.accompanied by a Mr A Whitton on drums (firebox actually) and It is worth a trip to Robregordo just to see this act. Next up (as they say), was probably the currently most famous BSA "Otter" rider, Coronation Street star, Peter Armitage (Bill Webster) singing Chris Rea's Road to Hell,(Priceless) seems quite appropriate with what as gone on in Corrie this week. Regards Charlie.
  9. Hi Guy's Just an update to the story so far (as they Say) Well I have contacted Tim and he tells me that when he spoke to Peter Roydhouse, some years ago he said that the ex works BSA outfit 92 HOH was somewhere in deepest Yorkshire, in a very sorry state. So do any of you guy's from the Yorkshire Classic Club, have any information about the bikes whereabouts I would love to find the bike for Derek Round before it is to late. Regards Charlie.
  10. Hi Guy's He is a legend in his own right. Do you think he needs a agent? or a bass player? I know his drummer would probably ride as-well, If he is not to busy making hubs. Regards Charlie.
  11. Hi Guy's Hi Majdaz. Do you mean, the Rock God who rides a James and sings a lot better than Joe Cocker? If so I might do that trial? Regards Charlie.
  12. Hi Guy's, I have just been contacted by Brian Bedford (My relative) from the IOM. To say that the last person that he knows, to have owned the Round outfit. was Tim Fairbrother. Does anyone have any contact details for Tim? you can PM me if you like. Regards Charlie.
  13. Hi Guy's Hi Big "J" Well I can assure you that I owned the bike XJO 277. and so do the DVLA if they look up the records. So I do not have a problem with that. I have a photo in an ORR reference library Vol two page 65 with Arthur and Colin Pinder aboard. In The same volume on page 27 there is a picture of Dan Shorey and me in the 1962 Tanners Trudge. My first day passengering for Dan. I was unfortunately described has a female in this shot (what-ever). Regards Charlie.
  14. Hi Guy's Just remembered what I forgot to say, that James has got his outfit for sale if you are interested. Asking price
  15. Hi Guy's Hi Vanman. Sounds to me as if it is the conrod. Did you replace it? I would strip the motor back out quickly before it goes bang. these rods have a habit of braking without notice. did you replace the shells? and did you check the rod for length and straightness and check for cracks? I would seriously replace it, and have the crank checked. Regards Charlie. PS this should be in the Classic bike section as the bike is not PR65. Or perhaps we could have a "British Twin Shock",(BTS) section Andy.
  16. Hi Guy's, Hi Jon, You should have put both items on your Christmas wish list. You should see mine. Do Amazon do oil pumps and mags? Regards Charlie.
  17. Hi Guy's. Hi OTF. Near enough spot on. Like you say most of it is the attitude of today's youth, in a throw away world, no respect, for there machine, if it is not brand new.(With all the added glitter). No respect, for other peoples property, No respect for the people who have put on the event for there pleasure? And most are in and out of the sport within a couple of years. The lads(lasses) with the right attitude, usually spend time, trying to update a older machine. and It is these Guy's who will eventually move on to the more social atmosphere of twin-shocks/ pre65, events. Or would probably save up and buy, a proper trials bike with a seat if they were available. And events for new machines with twin shock absorbers at the rear????? were catered for. and were available.Sporting trials they were once named!!! [Manufacturers take note], you need to put a "Sporting Trials Bike" into your next catalogue. Regards Charlie.
  18. Hi Guy's OK skipped through what you have all written. And what you are saying is, Bring back proper motorcycle shaped machines, that can be ridden on the road, to even go to work and back on(needed that this week) then on a Sunday, you can go out with your mates for a pleasant little competitive ride over some off-road terrain on the same bike and then even share a pint and a tale or two afterwards. Riding a po-go stick with an extra wheel attached is not like this, firstly you have to make sure that the nearest A and E is open, then you have to find someone who can go along with you to shout and ridicule you until you fall off, or run out of time, po-go-ing.Then you have to be unpleasant to every one around you, and when the episode is over, you climb into the van, slam the door, and get nagged by your parent, or minder, all the way home. Real good fun ay. So which branch of the sport would you choose? Manufacturers will wake up when it is too late??? Regards Charlie.
  19. Hi Guy's, Hi Jon, Go for the rotary Morgo pump if you can afford it, it has to be the better deal. Regards Charlie.
  20. Hi Guy's Hi OTF. Is this correct. Company: Classic Brakes Services Address: PO Box 5 Whaley Bridge High Peak Derbyshire SK23 7LL Contact: Ian Campbell Telephone: 01663 732025 Email: classicbrakeaol.com Regards Charlie.
  21. Hi Guy's. Hi Howard. I would contact John Bull at Rockshocks, as he builds small Grimeaca hubs into the D.O.T.'s that he builds, perhaps this is the way to go. Regards Charlie.
  22. Hi Guy's To set up any new enterprise in the present monetary situation is a risk, even one building small volume bikes. and if you delve into setting up a workshop capable of producing these bikes, you would be amazed at how much it will cost. If you did go ahead, how many bikes or frames would you sell? and at our age, ay Ron, would we want the hassle. It is a nice thought though. Jon Bliss was one of the works riders at "Saracen" perhaps he could get, interested? and he is up and running. one of the Chinese motors would fit in a treat, and they ent half built well now a days (the engines that is). Is ten and a half inch ground clearance not enough for you then OTF? Regards Charlie.
  23. Hi Guy's Hi Ron , I am so glad you have found the "Trials Central" web site, as YOU are a part of trials history, Keep watching and posting on the site, as I am sure you can provide us with information and photos about your- Saracen's and other makes of trials bikes of the time, I have an "Off Road Review " with a good three or four page history about Saracen, most interesting. Welcombe to "TC". Regards Charlie.
  24. Hi Guy's Hi Dave, Yes that's the route to go, if you want a five hundred,(watch this space). OK,had the rod in me hand yesterday, and got called to do another job, Will check it on Monday. Small end bush of any-size not a problem and can be machined up from a chunk of bronze rod in minuets. Regards Charlie.
