The NATC held their annual meeting over the weekend. Among the highlights at the meeting was a decision to use the term 'MotoTrial' instead of the phrase 'Observed Trials' for the sport. I talked with Eric's dad Steve Storz today. He was due to be released sometime today. He emailed me an update about the antibiotic-related complications from surgery that have kept Eric in the hospital for the past week and a half. I've got a revamped web site/blog for the Wagner Cup (USGP) up: When I was at the Trials Training Center in Tennessee last week, I videotaped Dan Brown doing a walk-through of many of the sections. Three section preview videoclips are now posted to the TrialsUSGP blog, along with a photo slideshow and misc. other stuff. Less than 3 weeks to go!

It appears Patrick competed in another event in Bangor, the European Championship. There's an FIM page with a Bangor Junior 125 class (two conflicting dates on that page) and then a link to a PDF of results showing Patrick with a 1st place.

Cliff Tucker, the heart and soul of the Rocky Mountain Trials Assocation and a legend in the US motorcycle trials community, died of heart attack yesterday at his ranch in Cotopaxi, Colorado, site of the upcoming NATC Rounds 1 & 2. Hey, Bent!Dan 'Oprah' Brown is determined to get Patrick Smage for an interview, and he's been gathering up the questions to ask him. He's going to ambush him in Guatamala at the World Round. And then we'll probably do a follow-up with his pappy. I'm thinking we should interview Phil, too, since he's been setting world records in snowskating competitions and continuing to move up the ladder in trials.
