    Dog bones

    Just changed the dog bones on my evo 250. Came with bearings and inserts. Now have nearly no play in rear suspension.well happy. I did change the bearings before.but this is a much better job. And an easy fix. Will order a new delta linkage the original feels slightly worn on the swing arm pivot.

    Crank seals

    Beta evo 250 has been running rough.i changed the piston and rings and noticed the crank was oily. I have changed crank seals.an easy job.the bike smoked for a while.its now cleared and the spark plug is looking a more normal colour. I was thinking new evo 300 because i want low down proper power. But now i have it.lol A job worth doing.
  5. i have 2 betas a 125 rev 3 and 250 evo. The 125 feels like a bicycle to ride yet same weight. Allegedly it's reciprocal mass of piston that makes 250 feel heavier.250 prob has 16bhp. 125 about 12bhp.not a lot of difference.

    Took head off. Sprayed with oil. It disappeared past rings. Today have changed piston and rings.took a chance with b piston. Compression much higher. Piston underside and crank was covered in oil. Think that's why I thought it was running rich.will change oil seals this weekend. Then it will be like new.lol. Piston looks like original from 2011. Can't wait to take it out now.

    Already said thanks to someone for helping me with my jetting mistake.lol Have now changed fork spring to suit my weight. Bike is powerful.and front end don't crash down.

    I'm changing the pilot jet, bike came with a 45, the plug oils up,so tried a 40, it ran lumpy till I got on main jet, put in a 38, now looking at a 35. Is it normal to have this size pilot jet,??? With the 40 it pulled the front wheel up off the throttle, but lumpy. New plug in it, bpr7, also tried bpr5, still oiling up, have repacked exhaust and cleaned it out,

    Checked the float height by blowing gently down the carb fuel inlet, what a great way of getting it perfect, can't claim its my idea, so, the chugging was not float height it was pilot jet too big, new carb had a 48, changed to 35, prob settle on a 40.

    I'm thinking of buying a new alp, What's your verdict ? Guess they do 65- 70 on main roads, to get to a green lane, Has anything fallen off, broke,?
  14. I have a beta evo factory 250 2011. I brought it cheap, 1500 quid, have cleaned it up. changed linkage and swing arm bearings and it's now perfect, have played with the jetting it's now, got plenty of poke, will climb anything and is reliable, the factory has decent suspension both ends, I only buy beta, I find them easy to work on reliable and parts good price, People say the clutch drags, I put a very thin washer behind the pressure plate and it never sticks, Coming from enduro you know about maintenance, I thought tyres are pricey, till I remembered I paid £70 for a rear michelin in the 80s,lol
  15. Got same bike cheap money, same condition, rear brake was rubbish,so galfer disc and pads, now perfect, swing arm bearings not that easy to replace but now done, Got new wheel bearings to fit next, easy job ?????

    Two betas

    Had the rev3 125 a couple of years, done a bit of work on it, then got a 2011 evo factory in poor condition, Have cleaned it up, changed swingarm bearings and linkage bearings,now near perfect, one thing I will never do is use a power washer on either,they rot everything, Used the 125 last weekend and forgot how easy it is to ride,feels lighter than the 250, but it's not, One change I made to 250, slow throttle,its now so much easier to ride, joined the North hants club, its been great,

    Sorted seals, I must have slightly twisted one, greased it then slid it home, it's now good,
  18. Start it up with clutch pulled in, warm it up with clutch pulled in, it clears very soon, I have rev3 125, and evo 250, 250 has a thin washer behind the pressure plate ,an easy mod.

    Glad you replied,yes I had that happen, front locked on,thought I may have turned freeplay up whilst riding, wii look at it again.thanks

    Read a few people had a prob bleeding the front brake, so did I, I put a new piston in the master cylinder, and got no joy moving the fluid, So I adjusted the span and freeplay on the lever, then I had movement of the fluid, was a simple job once lever was adjusted to get max flow. This may help someone out.lol

    Silencer packing

    Paid 1500 for evo factory 250, 2010, have cleaned it, changed some parts, cleaned all the frame, swingarm stickers off, looks great now, stands me in 1800, and is something I will keep and work on for years, I use it in local club trials plus ridgeway, so a good buy, with a strong engine.

    Silencer packing

    Brought an evo 250 factory, cheap, When I went to pack the silencer I found it wrapped with hemp, thats got to be a fire risk. Who would do that and think it's right,lol. Every allen bolt was rounded off, have changed the rear linkage bearings, they were rusted to powder, Easy enough job. Thought my brother had no mechanic sympathy till I took this bike apart lol.

    Did buy a new shaft, will fit it on one of them, Got two spare seals so will try again, very carefully,lol Thinking maybe I should have greased the shaft before sliding on seal,

    Got a rev 3 125 and evo 250, 09 imaculate and 2010 well used, both bikes I put a new uprated water impeller on. And changed waterpump seal, (the right way around,) Now both bikes got water in the oil, I obviously disturbed something, So I'm going to put a small amount of sealant around the seals, Surely the water pump shaft doesn't wear that much ????

    Rear shock linkage

    Held rear wheel on my evo 250, and shook bike, felt like the frame was cracked, looked at shock linkage,there is a lot of play, ordered new bearing kit, which is extensive, will fit kit within an hour, then feel bike will be perfect.
