  1. To confirm we did colour checks today via du pont automotive, silver matches 1990 onwards merc silver and use Honda taihitian red for the orange, hope this helps someone
  2. If the one you looked at was in Banham Norfolk it's simply lovely, good friend of mine owns it. The bike has zero issues but he has got into twinshock TY-175's as he would do being an ex Bavins mechanic and spending most his life working on Yamaha's! ...I prefer the MAR's to the TY's, those old OSSA's are super looking bikes.
  3. Cheers for that Esteve, just spoke with a friend who has 5 of these TL's (!) and he told me that Mercedes Silver is a very good match and that old 70's Honda Civic orange equal the orange of all things....having a proper paint code is far more usual! .....budgeted on around £150 to do her up but the wallet is suffering a little more as is the nature of these things what with new frame decals, stainless nuts and bolts etc, having a blast company and power coat firm on my industrial estate will help keep things sensible though. she is 36 years young but I managed to strip in her down around 3 hours with not a single nut of bolt seized, maybe because she has never been used off road. It appears she has just been used for commuting of all things by her one owner up to last year and is running 15/52 gearing....possibly the most overgeared TL125 in captivity! I left her out the front of my car sales and it seems a lot of people are rather fond of these old girls judging by the amount of attention?
  4. I've just bought a tl and going to refinish her, powder coat frame is no issue but does anyone know the paint codes for the bright silver and shiney orange for my paintshop? Cheers
  5. Hi guys, this wasn't meant to be cop bashing thread, the reverse in fact but it sure has struck a chord....I have a used car sales and I sell lots of 3 series to local cops and I have never had a problem with any of them....not sure why they like 3 series though! Point about the speeding is that yes, I held my hands up so I know when I'm in the wrong and don't expect to be let off (a stern warning would be nice though!).... It's obvious that we have a post from a 'proper' cop who cares and many do but can't do the job with one hand tied behind their back...also, when I report and stolen bike and the whereabouts of it, am I talking to a cop or a 'civie'?.....I'd think a real cop maybe be keaner than a 'civie', most likely wrong but that is my perception,. Also, this bike theft thing...it's fairly that this is a real big issue, in one week there were 12 bikes stolen in Medway that I know of, many more I don't know of no doubt, and does anyone get their bike back? So, what's to be done if the police can't help, or are seen as helpless or apathetic? Well, I always HPI everything I buy, if you don't you will not know if the bike is hooky which only encourages the theft of bikes...they can't all be broken up for parts can they? Lots of very dodgy bikes seem to turn up on fleabay so always ask for a reg' plate or VIN to do a check on I suppose may help. One last thought, I sold a Beemer to a retiring cop in the met' a few years back, one of life's gentlemen, he gave the impression he was quite high up and was looking forward to retirement as the job had changed too much....anyway, he gave me
  6. Not been on here for a while and decided to check out the stolen bike thread, as I thought that trials bikes wouldn't be stolen as often as the MX and enduro bikes...but I'm wrong! It seems that the police seem to getting a real bad press on here too as regards their reaction to a stolen bike....I have been there too when I had my enduro bike stolen. Some of the conversations I had with the police after I found out whom stole my bike, where it was being kept, were so laughable, to the point of being just unbelieveable.... " I have just seen my stolen bike"... "ooh, right thank you sir, we will get someone there this afternoon, goodbye sir" "ermm...don't you want to know where it is, it may be useful!?!" Also, when I was looking to buy my Monty I saw two for sale that had the frame and engine numbers ground off, one so fresh it still had clean burrs on the frame....yeah I grassed the guys up, I rung the police, never got a call back though.... The "sir can't put anything 'in-place' as an anti-theft deterent that may cause distress or worse injury" conversation.... This sort of thing really p*sses me off, the only contact I have with the police always seems to be negative....when I get a ticket for speeding, 82 in a 70 was the last.....yeah I think bit tight, but it's a fair cop and they have a job to do, and when I need them I'm sure they will be there for me...but I always feel so let down.... I wouldn't want to their do job but then they wouldn't want my job either I'm sure. Come, on some one must a good story to tell, it can't be all bad?
  7. My new to me Monty, now has a new set of Havensport friction plates with the Silkolene SRG 75 oil and the clutch now performs faultfree...took all of 15 minutes to do! ..................far better than my '07 WR250F which seems to drag when it wants! Thanks for the help from this site already
  8. Are you sure this isn't the air bleed screw for getting rid of unwanted trapped air in the fork you are looking at? The fork rebound/compression adjustment is only on the right hand side fork...or this '03 onwards?
  9. my nomination, oldie but goodie!
  10. Many thanks guys for the heads up on the advice... ..........checked air filter clean as a whistle but cleaned and oiled anyway! ......ordered a new clutch pack from Haven Sport, nice guy I spoke with, so hopefully my clutch will be sweet as a nut, although it's not too bad at the moment once warm............................................................. but I need all the help to control this bike, god this thing pulls like a stream train! again many thanks guys
  11. Hi guys, after kissing lots of frogs i got my 315R princess I have been looking on and off for a couple of months for a cheapie but reasonable 315R and placed a wanted ad on here, and managed to buy one from one of the calls, which all seem to be from the Leeds area , 4 hours+ away for me so took two days off and saw as many as I could in the those 2 days! I wavered at times and saw few gasser Pro's but they all seemed to be just plain worn out, baggy and loose and as tatty as can be. Every dealer I spoke with told me the same thing, if I going for a first cheap trials bike get the Monty so hopefully this advice will work out to be correct. My Monty was only to be used to improve my Hare and hound skills but this trials thing is so much fun, couldn't leave it alone last night so I thinking I may as well join a club and do a few trials...do they have an over 40's class for newbie wobblers in the Maidstone area? .....but before I bought my 315 what I saw would make your eyes weep...missing VIN numbers on more than one, one with the mains hanging out so much it made my fillings loose and one advertised as a registered '04 but with '02 VIN numbers.... work that one out etc! It was always going to be hard to find something tidy for that money but I got an '03 yesterday from a proper decent guy who even gave me a few spares, oil etc but I did leave my bag of wiring loom, lights and other bits and bobs up North....so I need to arrange some post if I can find his tel number which I can't at the moment! Anyway everything works, no bodges, very honest and I'm very pleased with her , no real issues but this is an old bike so they all need a few quid and few hours on them with a little TLC so I do have couple of Monty newbie questions... 1/ All of the Montys I have seen seem to like a dragging clutch....do I fit new Honda plates or go for something else...seems to be a very a common problem with these 315R's, I can ride thru it (hey I had a EC-200 gasser!) but is there a 100% cure? 2/ I'm embarrased to say I can't find the air filter ...I'm assuming it's under the 8mm bolt securing the seat but what happens next to gain acess to it, I don't wish to break anything! 3/ 80:1 petroil mix yes? 4/ Erm, where is the coolant filler cap? Any other 'new' bike tips very welcome indeed guys many thanks for any help
  12. Got to scrub the idea of the trials bike...my gasser EC was stolen on Sunday night...need a new EC now! Yellow/black '06 gasser EC-200 Medway area Kent...no longer carrying race numbers and reg plate cheers for the help guys
  13. cheers again guys, I have my own car sales and know what cars and bikes are usually like on Fleabay...last gasp for most stuff, would rather buy from a dealer of course but this is old and cheap for a dealer to be offering thanks
