B40RT i have do doubt as to your dogs security skills however i bet your security alarm has never eaten 2 inner tubes or had relieved itself in the workshop (on a regular basis).. regarding the rear silencer i have the original, but the WES sounds fantastic. I also have the original sales brochure / tool kit and owners manual.

Just checked the writing on the shocks and it looks ok however if someone can confirm this it woud be greatly appreciated - and yes that is a Jack Russel and if anyone has an original set of handelbars the dog is yours ...

Cheers for that mate - if i can be any help just shout. Remember as far as the wife is concerned NO part cost`s more than a 10`er.
  4. This is it - 18mths down the road and far to much money invested, the end is in sight. A complete stripdown restoration-engine/gearbox every nut / bolt and seal i could find as been either replaced or reconditioned. She has matching engine and frame numbers, new stainess steel spokes and nipples original rims. Unfortuntley the `Hydrobag` rear shocks were beyond repair so new period `Falcons` were fitted. New electrical loom made, waiting for headlight surround to come back from the chrome people. Will post the completed photos soon. I am on the look-out for a new oject once the 348 has been sold.

Could anyone please help - whilst doing an engine rebuild on my 348 after splitting the crankcases i have two brass shims the exact size as the crank bearings - i don`t know if they fit on the inside of the cases up against the crank or outside near the seals?

I had parts lost in the mail from Dave - after contacting him he reposted free of charge no problems. A great person to deal with.

Cheers for the offer mate - i have the original owners book with basic wiring diagram but not with kill switch or any script explaining anything only - exploded views. However if you have a workshop manual i would like to take you up on your kind offer. Cheers for the reply.
  14. I would appreciate if anyone out there in twinshock cybercpace could help me with the following problem - if i had any hair i would be pulling it all out. I am in the final stages of my 348 (51m) rebuild and trying to make a new wiring loom. I have picked-up some relevant info from previous posts but nothing to help me connect all relevant wiring to a original "Loenelli" handelbar switch. Many thanks is advance.

Great idea Steve - I am currently doing a `ground up` total restoration of a 348 and it has been a bit of a struggle to aquire all original parts and because there is no repair / clymer manual available (not that i have found) things do take a bit longer.
  16. Cota 348 - Busy with complete restoration. No nut or bolt left "unsrewed / unbolted / broken / stripped / rounded-off or lost". Should anyone wishing to view some pic`s please let my know and i will do my best to post a few.

Cheers guys - After a tin of "penetrant spray" some heat and home made spring compressor (Tie-Down Straps) all is good and a rebuild is in progress, bags look good. Any idea how much fork oil to add ? I might have to go the `trial and error` route. Many thanks once again.
  18. Can anyone please tell me if the "Hydrobag" original shocks can be stripped-down to be refurbished ?

  20. I am in the process of doing a complete restoration on very original Cota 348 51m - i have the original owners handbook but i have been looking for a workshop or repair manual for the last 3mths - no luck! Could anyone out the in cyberspace please put me out of my misery. Is it possible to use a similar model ? All ineed is the engine rebuild sections. Cheers Des
  21. Hey Tucker - As i write this reply i can feel both "long broken" colar-bones begin to ache as i remember the Sand Dunes in Hout Bay and then riding down to "Sandy Bay" to watch the nudist`s - or those rocky enduro`s in Somerset West. One of many reasons for leaving SA is that when i go riding the green lanes with mates here in Devon, i don`t have a 9mm Revolver strapped to the handelbar. And the car is still where i left it ! (Tofasttim) Hey boet - I am happy as a pig in kak - The riding down here in Devon is fantastic and wales is just 2hrs away for even better ride-outs. Ja motorcross in Malmesbury with a new KTM from Mike Hopkins motorcycles - those were the days hey boet ? Ag ya swaer one day maybe.. Its past my bedtime and i`ve had my hot choclate and its slaap tyd, nag.
  22. Hi my name is Des and originally from Cape Town - like many of us - started MX as schoolboy (got older) enduros 20`s & 30`s (got older and married) sold toy`s and bought a baby-seat ! And here i am with a cup of coffee in the shed restoring a `76` Cota 348 and riding green lanes with my Husqvarna 410. "Youth and enthusiasim is no substitute for experience and cunning"
