They were Hebo , are they the best to refit ? or renthal or domino/tommiselli which i have seen on websites..

    cheers Dave.

  3. Hi GJ

Yes clean air filter, take it out every 3rd outing and clean.Carb clean..mixture screw size 38 was told to screw all the way back then unscrew 3.5 turns.

If it is running rich which way should i screw in or out ?

    cheers Dave

  4. My gasser txt280 limited edition 03yr, Has a annoying way with spark plugs....after 4 to 8 hrs use, when i come to kick it up it starts ok but then starts running lumpy then fizzels out and stops. I then check spark plug, the end is black and sooted, replace plug and everything hunky dory for the next 8hrs.

My petrol mix is 65cc of synthetic oil to 5 litres of petrol, is this the norm with my model......?

    cheers Dave :P

  5. What you need to do first is make sure the rest of the carburettor is clean inside, you need to remove it from the bike, take the 14mm brass nut out from underneath & remove the float bowl, line everything up on the bench in order & remove the pilot jat & starter jat. blow them out with compressed air & refit back together... By the sounds of it I bet the pilot jet is blocked!!

With the fuel screw (the one to the left of the idle screw) turn it all the way in, then back it out 3.5 turns, this is a good base setting but all bikes run differant.

With the tickover screw you need to just start the bike up & turn it in until the bike is just ticking over nicely or where you like it, if the bike is running lumpy (rich) then just turn the fuel screw in a quarter of a turn at a time until it runs better. If the bike is hunting for fuel (weak) then turn the fuel screw out until it runs better...

    Hope this helps.

  6. Thanks for you reply.excuse my ignorance where would i find the pilot jet ?

i have taken out the idle screw out and cleaned, but didnt take notice how many turns to take it out,is there a set method when replacing idle screw ?

    cheers Dave

  7. Hi there, last time out i went onto reserve tank, filled the petrol tank today.put choke on to start engine, when choke turned off the engine does not tick over just cuts out.

repeated and twisted throttle a few times to warm engine ,but no tick over just peters out and stops ? can anybody explain what the problem might be ? i have taken fuel pipe off and petrol runs through and i switched petrol from reserve to on.

    cheers Dave
