  1. hy has anyone got a good oil to use for 4rt gear oil iv used motul and silkolene there ok but after couple of trials the clutch makes a wining noise when flicking clutch or setting off slow its ok when fresh oil in also just put elf htx in and same problem but straight away this time help regards ste

I've used Maxima 75wt synthetic gear oil in my 06 since it's first oil change, works great. The clutch is original, the master cylinder has been changed to the large body as used on the 315.

  2. Also watch out when putting a fresh clean oil filter in - seems to confuse o2 sensor and can be a pig to start.

    Good luck

Do you mean air filter? Where is the o2 sensor located?

  3. Not according to this: Super Hunky

Honda have done well from trials. Not financially but, as mentioned in this thread, from technological cross-pollination. The RTL short stroke Honda trials bikes of the late '70's and early '80's provided technical input to the XR's of the early '80's.

Umm, wasn't it the F.I.M. that mandated that all trials bikes in the world rounds be 4 stroke by 2006, and then backed away from their own rule after the Trials manufacturers spent big bucks developing said 4 strokes?

  4. Honda also fitted that batteryless EFI setup to their two premier MX bikes. Don't know how much it was based of the 4RT R&D effort, but no doubt they at least shared notes a bit.

I believe the EFI system came from a scooter. Which as far as two wheels go, is probably where the real money is.

  5. , but I still find the bike still carries too much momentum with the clutch disengaged. I think ther'es still enough friction for a little drive to be left and I have to kill it with the brakes.

Lower gearing and/or an O ring chain might make the bike suit you better.

  6. Does someone sell rear sprockets on line? I'm told the wheel is from a 1971 Alpina. Chain size is 428. ID about 5.75, 6 bolts, 3 pins about 8mm, bolt/ pin circle about 6.375, shallow counter bore.

The wheel is on a BSA C15 and I'm looking for a big sprocket up near 80 tooth. I could even do the ID and bolt circle machining if sprocket blanks were available in that size.

I would contact Sprocket Specialists in your state of CA. They can probably make one for you.

  7. After reading this thread I went and looked at my 199A. It has the aluminum bracket. I can't get too worried about it since it's lasted over 30 years, but I'll look for a steel one since I'd like to paint the frame anway. Is it a Bultaco part? From a different model?

  8. No experience, I did change my rims, but took the standard width. I know it is not so easy to get Acront rims nowadays but it's still possible, even the original red and yellow label one's. If you need the ressource PM.

My question to you is why do you want to mount a wider rim?

1- Because I think it will let the tire spread out and conform better to the terrain.

    2- Because I have one.

  9. so what i have found is that you will need to lean the fueling out and maybe retard the ingnition if you get detination there seems to be no exact rule each bike is not the same hope this helps

Normally the adition of alcohol requires richer jetting, as you are essentially running watered down gas. There may be other factors at play though.

  10. Woody is right from my (very) limited experience, the Electrex system on mine has not needed touching to be fair, i just followed the instructions and when strobed it was bang on where it needed to be, but the 'mare of working out degrees v's BTDC is not something I like spending my days getting my head around.

I believe the BultacoUK option is the real "plug and play" solution between the two. From what I've seen/heard/learnt over the past week, the BultacoUK option is the one I'd go for if I were doing it again, as it was I saved less than

  11. More than you think in Oregon alone, one even in Boring.

    /quote]

I checked the Washington list and it is way out of date. There are stations listed that I know no longer have ethanol free gas. Hopefully Oregon is in better shape.

I'm going to check Idaho next. When I fill my truck in ID I get 2 MPG more than when I fill in WA. And it's cheaper in ID as well.

  12. My clutch slips a little bit when kicking the lever in warmer weather. I've never been able to discern any slipping while riding though. That's the main reason I took it apart. Every thing looked good so I put it back together. I imagine ATF would minimize the slipping, but it always starts despite the slipping, and works well with light gear oil.

I'm afraid it will be some time before I can give it the warm weather test <_< .

  13. Great pics,That's the way I want to use the Sherpa,I'll do a few mods to trialsize it a bit more(move footpegs, trials handlebars) and just putter around like the Grandpa I have become,I get my competition jollies from trials now,My KTM 380 EXC days are behind me,But I'm having more fun riding now than ever!

You would probably like my TTR230 dualsport.

  14. If you don't mind what kind of price range did you get quoted on the T-Ride?

I just bought a used Super Sherpa to ride 'cause I just got tired of the bigazz 640LC4 in the woods.

One lap around my tiny backyard before the inclement weather set in convinced me that I've made the right D/S choice, may take some work to fit a trials tire to the rear, but that's not really important for how I'm gonna use it.

Attached you will find a brochure of the all new 2011 Scorpa T-Ride. Finally you can get the most agile off road Hybrid dirt bike available. This is available through pre orders only. 15. I'd like to hear some evaluations from those that have used them.

It seems to me that a 325 has plenty of power, but I wonder if an ignition with an advance curve would noticeably widen the power band by letting the engine rev higher.

That would likely rerduce the need for shifting in a section.

  16. Well reading #4 in one of the above post:

One foot down on both sides of the bike at the same time.

AHRMA (and I think others)count this as an automatic 5 for that section.

    From the 2011 AHRMA rulebook, page 75;

    7) Touching both feet to the ground at the same time while astride the machine = 2

points (one dab for each foot).
