Anyone know where I can buy a set of seals for the front caliper on my 2004 pro?
-
Graham, may I refer you to my previous reply.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if a 1998 montesa 315R rear wheel will fit straight on a 2004 gas gas 250 pro?
Cheers,
John

I've just finished taking it apart and the shaft and bearing are indeed buggered!
Thanks for the offer, I'll give you a shout if I get stuck
-
Well the gearbox was full of water, but I couldn't resist and bought it anyway!
Fingers crossed a new waterpump seal will sort it...
What's the best way to flush all the milky cr&p out? Is it just of matter of changing the oil a few times, or is there a better way?
-
Thanks Blocky!
Fcuck Off Graham!

Hi all,
I'm going to look at a 2004 250 pro tomorrow evening. Is there anything in particular I should look out for on these bikes? Any known issues with them?
Thanks,
John
-
No, I was hoping to avoid that if possible! In my experience, opening a crankcase is like opening a can of worms...
-
Hi all,
How hard is it to change the crank seals on a '98 315?
Can I do it with the engine in situ, or is it a crankcase splitting job?
Thanks!

Is it the power or the snapiness of the clutch that's the problem?
If it's the second then removing two of the clutch springs makes big difference.
-
I finally got around to trying this today. What a difference it made!
It's much smoother and it didn't feel like the bike was constantly fighting me.
Not only is it less on-off, but it's lighter too - I completed todays trial without a hint of my usual clutch-finger-fade
Thanks very much Christoff, that's saved me shelling out a load of cash on a new clutch
-
Hi all,
Does anyone know if the 315 clutch plates from Haven are any good?
Will they stop my clutch acting like an on-off switch?
Or would I be better off going or one of the other options - i.e. apico, mitani, CR250?
-
You have to be a member of Berkhamsted to practice at Nash Mills and Earl Shilton to practice at Earl Shilton.
I don't think either club has any kind of storage. You could try leaving your bike, but it might not be there next time you go!
-
Keep trying the website, it's been going up and down like a yo-yo lately!
Cambridge Matchless put on some excellent trials, but sadly they don't have any training grounds.
The nearest training grounds I know of are Nash Mills to the south and Earl Shilton to the North - both are a long trek from Cambridge.
Other nearby clubs are Nene Valley, and Peterborough, but again they don't have their own training grounds.
-
I think you might have been right!
I stripped the reed block out and reassembled it with copious amounts of gasket gloop - problem solved!
At least I hope so, only had a quick ride up and down the street, but she seems to be behaving herself now
Thanks!
-
Just had the exhaust apart - I couldn't see any washers in there. But I also couldn't see any washers on the parts diagram!?

Hi all,
My 1998 315 has appears to be somewhat sickly.
I'm struggling to get it to idle without setting the tickover very high.
At low revs it's constantly surging, at a rate of about 1 surge per second.
It revs up nicely, but when you shut the throttle is takes an age for the revs to drop (several seconds), and it surges on the way down.
I think it may be running quite hot too.
It's had these problems for a while, but they've been getting steadily worse. I took the carb off the other day and gave it a good clean - now the problems are worse than ever.
It's so bad now I had to borrow my mate's beta to ride a trial today!
Anyone got any ideas on what might be wrong with it?
Cheers,
John

Thanks Guys.
I've ordered a slow action throttle, so I'll see if that helps for starters. Hopefully it'll turn up in time for the weekend!
Does anyone know if it's possible to retard the timing a little?
Cheers,
John

Hi all,
My '99 315r is a little too fiesty for me - is there anything I can do to soften the power delivery a little?
Cheers,
John
-
Thanks guys!
I was asking as I'm thinking about selling mine. I got it a few months ago and I haven't really gelled with it.
I tried a couple of Rev3's at the weekend, and I instantly felt more at home on them. They don't have the same quality or solid feel as the montesa, but they feel a lot smaller and lighter which I preferred.
Not 'dissing the Montesa at all by the way! It's a great bike, I just don't think it's right for me.

Hi all,
Does anyone know what a 1998 250cc 315R is worth?

Hi all,
Does anyone know what the fork oil level should be for a 1998 250cc 315R? (The one with the Paoli forks)
Thanks!
-
Thanks Neil. I got some from Sandifords in the end (for twenty six bl00dy quid!).
Here's the Honda part number in case it's useful to anyone else:
51425-NN3-000
Does anyone know what the fork oil level should be?
Cheers,
Skov
