  1. Have you considered a slower throttle? They feel as tho you added a flywheel weight. Also how about using the clutch to control traction. I just finished a class with Ryan Young, and he had us riding through sections in first, second, and third while slipping the clutch the whole way through.
  2. Their good bikes. If your under 200lbs or ride at sea level. I think it weighs about 156lbs.
  3. Last weekend snow fell here in Denver, so i took my 290 apart and greased all of the pivots. While i had the swingarm pivot bolt nut loose i was holding the swingarm at the axle slots, and i noticed that the swingarm bearings had enough play in them that the swingarm would move side to side at the axle slots 1/4". I realize that trials bikes dont usually roll very fast, but this does not seem ok, !/4" is alot of side to side movement. This movement was axial not side to side at the pivot. After tightening the pivot bolt the play dissapeared or i could not repeat the movment due to the friction of the pinch caused by the tightend pivot bolt. Has anyone else noticed this with their Evo?
  4. I removed my 290 evo from the box it was delivered in and it had with two square holes worn into the mudflap before i took it out of the box. If i were Beta Motors i would be embarrased. Especially for what the purchase cost is. I hope it dosent develop the other problems that you mentioned.
  5. does anyone know what the piston ring end gap is for the standard size piston. for a 2003 model? Thanks livio
  6. I recently purchased a Beta 290 Evo, so far i like it. I have been riding a 2003 Scorpa sy250 since last Augest. I liked it too however I weigh 245lbs and ride at 7000' to 9000' altitude. Even though the scorpa has good performance I think it would be a better fit to a lighter rider at a lower altitude. My riding skills are amature level. I have only ridden the 290 once out on the trails, and i think with the ignition set on low the motor is as smooth as the Scorpa but more robust. On the high as mentioned before its much more powerful from low RPM's thru to the top. After one wash the rear suspension squeeked Like it was never never greased, so i took the bike apart and greased everything. Mine had good grease in the swingarm bushings but everything else was almost dry and the linkage fastners were over tight. I'm surprised that they were not stripped at the factory. I think the handling is very good. At this point in my riding i cant tell the weight difference but i can say that the rear is easyer to hop on the beta. To me the front lifts about as easy as the Scorpa. Also i like the progeressive suspension on the beta. It dosent move thru most of its travel like the Scorpa over the small stuff, so the chassis feels more stabil and dosent bottom so easy.
