April 10, 200521 yr Just an idle thought, in the mid to late '80's it looked like the French were going to dominate the WTC for years to come with riders like the Michaud brothers, Pascal Coutourier (sp), Phillipe Berlatier and so on. What happened to the French, why did they fall off the pace so dramatically?
April 13, 200521 yr Was it Phillipe Berlatier that used to throw tantrums and punch the observers?? Yep........remember that famous vid clip of a spectator throwing a twig in his path and watching him go off on one........ Ian.
April 18, 200521 yr The same Berlatier is today following his son in French Youth Championship and is once more french champion in 2004 in "Senior" class. I'm not sure he's now quiet then he was at that time you remebered..??!!
April 18, 200521 yr About your worries as regards good french riders in WTC I agree with you : we all worry about our future ! There is no rider good enough to mark points at the moment. Maybe because our federation (FFM) is not able to find young rider who are really good at riding just in time to push them far enough to be a good WTC rider. Except maybe the young Loris Gubian (Sherco) who won yesterday the World 125 ! It's sure you are all in Britain luckier to have such good riders than we are in France. Hope it would change one day!
April 18, 200521 yr Loris Gubian, six dabs, I see nothing to worry about, the french has a new rider!
