September 4, 201213 yr Hi I was wondering what people are using to remove the paint from engines other than blasting. I dont want to strip the engine other than removing the head and barrel as it was rebuilt nt long ago and im not doing a total resto but just want to tidy it up a little. I then want to repaint it but dont know which paint is best. I dont have access to a compressor so two pack paint are no use, I was thinking of one of the aerosol types but dont know which is suitable. Thanks in advance
September 4, 201213 yr Permatex Gasket remover is brilliant at removing paint - even powder coat but don't get any on your skin or anywhere near your eyes
September 5, 201213 yr Ive found that there's sometimes no point in starting to strip the paint. Just clean the engine. Key it up and smooth off the edges and spray. The old paint will give a good base if its on properly.

September 6, 201213 yr Funny I have a post in another forum where my fellow Oz posters are telling UK posters that their comments are invalid because they don't understand our geography and now you are telling me that we don't understand your climate - fair enough But anyway the gasket remover is brilliant for removing just about any coating .
