Ladies British Championship

It's nothing to do with Northern bias, it's to do with having a keen reporter in your area. There are often lots of photos in TMX fromcertain pockets of the UK including the south because a reporter bothers to do a report and send it in with photos.

Anyway back to the topic, Becky was very much on the ball, she didn't really do anything wrong all day. All 8 marks were dabs whereas Donna had a 5, a 3 and a couple of 2's.

Well done to Becky she deserved the win.

The first round of the Ladies Championship was reported in TMX a couple of weeks ago and if I'm not mistaken the girl in the picture was from the Surrey/Kent area. Isn't that the South?

All this bad feeling came about because of the way Becky was treated in T&MXN last year.

If a completly unknown male rider won the British championship at his first attempt it would be a major news story in the UK. She won five of the seven rounds last year and knowone seemed to care, especialy the staff at T&MXN. A lot of people in the southern centre were a bit Pi..ed off about it, she is riding better than ever so lets hope she gets respect this year :P

cobblers - of course TMX is northern biased

they're staff reporters can't be bother (with some legitimacy) from coming all the way down south (where everyone lives) to do some reporting

thus the editorial slant (be it comment, letters, position of reports, etc) seams to have a real northern slant

hence the TBM YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE would have been really interesting because it would be written by southerns

the next question is is it right that most of the reporters in TMX come form unpaid reporters doing it off their own backs ... ???

rabie (southern fairy) :P

TMX doesn't have a massive reader base compared to many sports papers. Only a limited amount they can do I suppose. Brilliant that we have the facility to publish our own reports at all.

When I first started sending reports in for our club a few years ago, I sent an email to John D asking what the best size/format was for reports and photo's. The reports always go in unedited, and the photo's are fairly regularly included too.

Is it the case that the abuse that the ACU used to receive has been built up because of their positive involvement with the DEFRA problem, and the whingers have found a new target for their frustrations :D

We'll have to wait 'till the end of the week to see what happens with the TMX report :D

Fingers crossed that you Southern fairies can get some well earned attention.

Could the same Southern fairies please resist giving me a slap at the Novogar round on Sunday - I'm only winding you up (well probably not, but I'm trying to) :P

Looking after your own PR is just as important as looking after your bike if you are: a) a wanabee, :P a rising star, c) a pro or d) a has been.

Nothing to do with North vs. South - that's complete b**lo*ks.

Don't expect the press to: notice you, write about you, give you free coverage, mention your sponsors unless you do something for them.

Journalists have better things to do, than dig around for your out of date details and an old photo that they have used before - they have deadlines and a copy to get out.

So make it easy for them.

Write a profile - keep it current, get lots of photos together, develop a relationship with your local paper and the specialist press.

Put a web site together. Then write your own reports, the press might not use them verbatum but might use a quote. The website can always carry the full report.

Don't sit back and wait for the coverage - generate it yourself.
