This was the first Scottish hill on which Ed Stott observed, he is on the right on the bank in shirt sleeves. The rider Roy Peplow at the 1959 finish with the Triumph Cub on which he had just achieved the first win in the event for a lightweight. On the left is Henry Vale, and on the right is Geoff Smith who was Chief Machine Examiner. The marshal with the armband is Laurie Mac-Clean, himself an ex-Six Days competitor, also past Scottish Trials Champion. Enjoy. laird387 Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 Hi, Brian Stonebridge brought this Greeves 250 to the 1959 Scottish, with passenger Andy Griggs, but they dropped out with big-end trouble on the Thursday. Many magazines claim that Arthur Pulman was the inspiration for the 250 sidecar class with his works DOT, but Arthur told me it was following Brian round Scotland and seeing how much easier the Greeves went than his Matchless that persuaded him to follow suit. laird387 Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 Hi, There aren’t too many pictures of Gordon Blakeway from his BSA B34C days, so I couldn’t resist this atmospheric shot of him on Loch Eild Path in the 1956 Scottish. As can be seen from the spectators it was a wet and blustery day high above Kinlochleven on that fourth day of the 1956 event, indeed judging by the way he has his trilby stuffed under his arm, the observer must have tired of chasing it!
