What Chain Lube?

Hit it with the power washer (won't do it any harm so long as its dried off straight away and not left).

Dunk it in a tub of light oil / gear oil overnight.

Drip dry overnight.

Back onto bike with a wipe with a rag to remove any remaining surplus.

(25) Years ago on a Suzuki LT250R I used an 'of the day' chain wax - dirt stuck to it and formed a grinding paste! I think all chain lubes are a compromise between lubrication and dirt retention.

There's not many people who disagree that a Scottoiler is good on road bikes; for me it is it a 'no-brainer' fitment. So, when I bought a trials bike and thought about chain lube I went straight for the blue scottoil oil. But as the typical trials bike usage is only a few miles (OK not SSDT) at very low speed, I might give a dry lube a try - just as long as water doesn't wash it off.
