September 26, 201411 yr Two hours at the DMV only to be told that my VIN # doesn't pass muster because the 10th digit is an 'E', which according to them was only for the 1984 and 2014 model years (they're right). My bike is a 2004, hence the 'E'. 2004 in North America was a '4'. The Gas Gas Vin decoder shows the 10th digit as being a letter, so that's consistent. Bike has never been registered which may also be part of the problem. I have to take it to CHP but I'm sure they're not going to have any of it either unless I can furnish some solid evidence of the Gas Gas system. Anyone else run into this?
September 27, 201411 yr Seems I remember through the rumor mill that the importer had to re-do the vin for cali bikes. Did your bike come from another state?
September 27, 201411 yr Author I don't have the history on the bike, unfortunately. Part of the reason it was only $1,900. At least there is no record of it being stolen. I guess I'll just not register it.

September 27, 201411 yr I believe Gas Gas goes by Iso 3780 standards and California goes by North America standards. Cali dmv is just not smart enough to recognize the Europe standard. Edited September 27, 201411 yr by lineaway
