What did the 5 supposedly conspire to do , get away with ?

There was a rider protest in Corsica where the top class riders effectively went on strike. It wasn't nice, particularly for the organisers who'd put in so much effort for the first visit of the championship to their little island, but if it hadn't happened in Corsica it would have happened somewhere else. The valve on the pressure cooker finally popped.

It was more about the length of the sections in combination of the difficulty, and time constraints.
