November 19, 20178 yr Following this thread with interest as well as when riding my daughters bike today it seized :-(. Pulled top end and OK there so something down below has gone pop. I have a couple of questions:- - No trick to pulling the engine on these? Just remove skid plate front bars, swing arm bolt and anything else? - Ordering a Flywheel puller, will an air powered impact driver be OK for everything else? - Do you really need a crank case splitter for these engines? - I am thinking new gaskets, main bearings, crank seals and anything else I find iffy looking. Are there any other things routinely replaced? - Any recommendations for a one stop shop for all the bits? Video link to the bike here https://photos.app.goo.gl/6XihaVKNBNYnBaXv1
November 20, 20178 yr Not sure the engine has seized,I'd have the clutch case off and also the clutch ,then see if the crank turns
November 20, 20178 yr Could be right there, will pull it off over the next 2 days and report back. Bike free wheeled OK, does that mean anything?
November 21, 20178 yr I replaced the center case gasket in my 2012 Beta 300 with no special tools. You should be fine. Be patient. It's all about balance.
February 18, 20188 yr update, been a while! Main bearings were toast, in the end left it in and for £100 was sorted out. Put a new piston in and all is well again!
