Which way would you fit it - one way as the engine gets warm air will go out - when it cools you would get a vacuum

If the other way then you hot couldn't get out and would suck water in .

Maybe a longer pipe if going higher than air box inlet might work like an upside down u bend??

In the original setup the breather sits low in the air box under the filter. Re-rout it to a higher point in the air box could be an easy fix (assuming that the breather causes the milky oil...)

The one I've found you can blow through it and when you suck it lets air 

through that way so maybe it's no use as a tank breather but it will stop 

water going straight down the breather pipe

I think the air needs to flow in and out of the gear box as it expands/contracts etc -not just one way - 

if I can blow and suck though the one I have that will let the air to the 

gearbox flow ??? wont it

I’m sure we are at cross purposes but Isn’t that just a pipe?

If it allows air both ways how does it stop water going down to gearbox?

I'm a bit confused 

This is what I’ve got which will just stop there being an open pipe near where water can get in.

can anyone also tell me that if my output seal was leaking would it be doing it all the time or just when the oil is hot or under loading, as I’ve had the sprocket off all week and it’s not leaked at all ?

I have used and inline fuel filter on the mont as similar application - keeps majority of muck out and only cheap

I’ve also noticed that the rubber O ring on the air filter tube was a bit big and seemed to squash up at one point and not seal properly so I’ve fitted one that’s a better fit so I’ll keep an eye on the oil colour and see what happens 

so this is the result from yesterdays ride, rode for about 3 hours stopped on the 

way home and washed it off, ran it at home for about 30 mins whilst I dried it 

off, it looks to me like condensation on the inside of the sight glass ? 

Forget the condensation... whatever's in the bottom of the glass doesn't really look like oil anymore. I wouldn't run it like that.

its coming out tonight, Vertigo have said it may take a few oil changes to get 

it back to normal

It shouldn't. Dump it, refill it, run it for a while, dump it again and fill it. If after an hour it gets milky again, you've got a problem other than a little water running down the vent tube.

In fact, thinking on it a bit more, I had the entire airbox out of mine regularly when changing the plug and whatnot, and there was no connection from the bike to the airbox other than the air filter > intake interface, and some electrical connections.

My 2017 doesn't seem to have any breather pipe in the Airbox neiter..

Isn't that hole where the battery model bikes loom ran??
