December 1, 20196 yr Anyone know where I can get hold of some shims to take the handlebar clamp diameter down from 1/8 to 7/8 ? I’ve checked flea bay but can only find some that will be shipped from China so don’t fancy them ,any ideas ??
December 1, 20196 yr Author Sorry yes it is , basically I want to run a standard pair of renthal braced bars in the same clamps that are designed for the braceless renthal fatbars ? The old type are described as 7/8 handlebar whereas the fat bars are described as 1/8 so I’m not sure what this refers to?
December 1, 20196 yr The old gasser bar clamps would work. But why would you go back to a weaker bar setup? By the way, it is 1inch and 1/8 vs 7/8. Edited December 1, 20196 yr by lineaway
December 2, 20196 yr Author It’s on a beta so the clamps are part of the top yoke hence needing the shims, always preferred the feel of braced bars it’s just a personal thing , not necessarily weaker just a different set up , Michael brown and dan Thorpe up until very recently have always used the older style renthals
December 2, 20196 yr We just used to cut some sheet alloy to suit when shimming the 348 to take Renthals. Edited December 2, 20196 yr by 2stroke4stroke
December 2, 20196 yr In Motion (https://www.inmotiontrials.com/product/handlebar-packing-pieces-cota-348/) offers them. They reduce the size down to 7/8 inch.
