guy53
The last rear tire I bought for my 2015 Sherco was a Dunlop 803 GP rear and I still run the original Michelin front, it's time to refresh them. Here is a list of what's avalable in the area : Rear Dunlop K950, Geomax TL01 and D803GP - Michelin Comp - IRC TR-11. Front Michelin Light and Heidenau K67 ( never heard of that ). What is your experience

RonH
I’ve heard good things from all of them except the Heidenau. Heidenau makes tires for older or vintage bikes and have a good reputation but not so much for their trial tires. I’m also pretty sure you’re running a tubeless tire on the back and, I believe, Heidenau only makes tube tires. If cost is an issue I’d go with the IRC because they’re much less expensive and many reports rave about them and say they do everything a trial tire needs to. That’s (IRC T-R-11) what I’m getting next. The difference between the Michelin tires and Dunlops is like spitting hairs. They all have excellent reputations. The Dunlop TL01 is their newest version. The difference between them are in how soft the tread is, weight and sidewall stiffness. The differences are minimal, however. You’ll need to decide which will work best for where you ride and style of riding. Mitas has a new version of trials tire that I’d like to try, but they’re not available near me. This new version is reputed to be a big step up from their older version. Who knows if it’s true though? lemur
Note that if there is no R in the tire size it's not a radial 🤓 Remember when the Michelin Light came out and they were less money then the X11 version, they are cheaper to produce and have now become the most expensive option available because of supply and demand. The X11 radial is still available and can be had for significantly less money 👍 Edited Wednesday at 12:44 PM by lemur
faussy
X-lite is the worst buy IMO. Expensive, wears quick and ive found I have to run them at a higher pressure which negates most of its benefits. Anyone tried the new CST tyre? looks good, and £85 for a rear Edited Wednesday at 01:20 PM by faussy
mostexcellentdude
I'm a brand new trials rider, so I have no other feedback other than I bought the IRC TR-11 due to them being half the cost of the Dunlop TL01 or Michelin X-11. The TR-11s were about $220+tax for the pair. I needed to replace the original tires on my 04 TXTPro so honestly I'm sure anything is an improvement. TrialsSuperstore only sells the TL01 and X-11 if that tells you anything... I also looked at the Dunlop K950 but being DOT rated, it looked more like a dual sport tire pretending to be a trials tire. Reviews stated that the rubber compound is way harder than a true trials tire and therefore less traction. lineaway Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM The michelin is the best, nothing wrong with the IRC. If you find an 803 buy all they have. the rest of us can`t find them. LOL The TL01 is crap I threw mine in the trash after one event. And Dunlop knows this!!! lemur
If anybody wants to trash their expensive soft compound radial tubeless competition trials tires after one use, you can throw them my way. Even the worn out tires work good for winter riding after you pump about 600$ worth of carbide grip studs into them 😎

If its of any use to you ... in the UK for competition the Michelin X11 is considered to be the best tyre for grip in all conditions and lasts the longest , quite a lot of riders in the south of the UK where Trials are run in woodland with little rock/stone but plenty of mud swear that the IRC WINNER TR is the best rear tire to use , they usually use a Michelin on the front wheel. I dont know why so many people dislike X-lights I have used most brands and versions and the X -light seems good to me. The top riders use them and they do not seem to complain.

For puncture resistance on rocks yes of course , as far as I am aware X light is for indoor trials. It would be odd if a major tyre manufacturer would spend an astronomical amount of money on tooling and R&D to produce a tyre that a few trials clubmen had suggested as a desired option while chatting in a bar. I am going to guess that its development was requested by the elite riders specifically for indoor events in the same way that Adam Raga requested that the older GASGAS would benefit from losing a lot of weight to help with hopping and skipping around which resulted in the pro version.
