why not just try them yourself?

I might yet but if somewone replies and tells me that they have tried them and found them no use at all then obviously I will not bother. I am trying to find out what others experiences of these tyres are.

More to the point, how often do you guys change your tyres? An IRC rear will last me a good 6 / 7 months (with turning) and a front twelve months.

With the IRC I know I'm getting a good tyre and at roughly £10 per month that ain't bad.

I tried to go down the cheap tyre route on my old BM road bike, bought a set of Cheng Shing **** for about half the price of a set of Contis...half price half the performance....ended up binning the Chinese tyres in favour of some decent treads...I thinmk the same applies for Trials tyres.

Spare wheel is the key, you never waste good tyres practicing which means you can keep your best for competitions.

Michelin do a standard trials tyre, not an X11, which I believe is fitted to Beta Alps as original equipment. These are £45, I have one on my DRZ400 for use in Enduros where trials tyres are compulsory.
On the heavier 400cc bike they work well but my friend tried one on his trials bike and it was hopeless. Just as in the previous post, it was like riding on 10psi.
I rate IRC's on my Scorpa but they are £65 or so. And road trials kill them!

:D My mate has an 05 gasser 250 with a Vee rubber rear tyre fitted 1 week ago.
Personally I don't think that bike grips well with any top brand tyre on it so I am paying close attention as to the performance of this new tyre .
First impressions are quite good-- soft compound ( like blocks of fudge )--so it grips quite well on loose surfaces but the sidewall seems a little stiff.
Its running at 4 psi at the mo' so I'm trying to see what it grips like with less air in ( like I said its not my bike so I can only make suggestions ) <_< Early days -- juries still out--I'll keep you informed !
For the last time...it's not 'SUPPOSED' to have a seat.
There are two types of men in this world:-
1) Those who are Geordies and..
2) Those that want to be.
