  1. ive got my lad a boy 50 in superb condition but noticed that the fan is not coming on, ive tried bypassing the thermo switch and it still wont work and ive tested the fan with a battery and it all works fine so my question is what else can the problem be, thanks
  2. thanks for the reply, think ill strip it down tomorow
  3. ive just got my lads boy 50 out today after being stood for about 18 months and after cleaning carb out and starting it, let it run up to temperature i noticed greyish oil coming out of the gearbox breather pipe which indicates water in the oil. does anyone have any suggestions on where to look fist before i take it apart. it was fine when it was used last and im thinking maybe the water pump seal is the cause? any advise is much appreciated
  4. mine pi***d fuel out when i bought it 2 years ago so i took it back to the dealer where i got it and all he did was set the float heights, fit a float bowl extension and put about 6 inches of pipe from the overflow thats at the bottom of carb on float bowl and turn it upwards and cable tied it to the fuel inlet pipe so it was a few inches higher than the overflow and ive never had a drop of fuel come out in the 2 years ive had it and bike runs really sweet, will start pointing up or down hill no problem and doesnt stall going down steep hills either, i dont know how to post pics on here otherwise i could take a pic for you
  5. i really feel for you mate and your boy, i only live 30 mins away on anglesey myself so will keep an eye open round here, got two boys myself with a bike each and i know how devastated they would be if they were stolen.the bas****s who stole them need theyre hands chopping off f*****G as****s

    No Spark?

i dont know how to post pics on here but if you have an email address i can send you a pic,its off an 04 bike
  7. just a thought but maybe the seals are being put in the wrong way round,it happened on my brothers 04 270 just after he bought it.he was given a resiept for new seals which the guy had fitted himself, but when i inspected them they were the wrong way round,he bought some new ones and i fitted them and theyre still bone dry 6 months later even though there are some very light marks on the stanchions.make sure the side of the seal that has a spring like ring around it is facing the bottom part of the fork leg and not facing outward
  8. ive removed the reed spacer on my bike and to be honest there was no real noticable difference in performance,if something a little sharper off the bottom and thats comparing it to my brothers bike which is the same as mine but with the spacer on and his is an 04 and mine is an 06 so it could be the 06 is sharper than an 04 as standard

    Beta 50 Stalling

i would give the carb a good clean and make sure the breather pipe for the fuel tank is clear

    No Spark =(

i would have thought the best place to get a good solid earth would be on the engine itself,ie the cylinder head as thats where the spark plug gets its earth from.try holding the wire securely to one of the cylinder head bolts.ive got the day off tomorrow and my bike is an 06 so ill dig out the wiring and make a note of what goes where and try and post it on here for you

when you took the coil off there should have been a wire earthed to the top mounting bolt of the coil, check to see if that was connected back up as it can easily be overlooked because its awkward to see and get to.
  12. it sounds like fuel starvation, check the carb to make sure the jets are clear and it could be worth checking the reeds to make sure they close fully
  13. i too have bought my lad a boy 50 for xmas, the bloke i bought it off told me the best way to start them is to put the fuel on,no choke and give it half throttle and kick or use choke but no throttle at all,i was also told to turn off the fuel supply whilst engine is still running in order to use up the fuel in the carb bowl because apparently the float in these things arent the best and can flood the bike and make it a pig to start, ive started it up and ran it using this method a few times and have had no problems at all.as for oily stuff in the exhaust it could be it needs a good clean through as maybe the previous owner put too much oil in the fuel.if it idles when in netral but not when a gear is selected its most likely to be the cluch dragging, hope any of this helps
  14. im pretty certain its 6004 2rs(2rs-2 rubber seals)
  15. as blocky says you must hold the flywheel when tightening the flywheel nut,if you hold the other half of the crank(by means of jamming in gear)whilst tightening, you risk the chance of knocking the crank out of true which can be an expensive mistake
