  1. I realise now I should have started a new topic on the ACU, I apologise for the ambush of this topic. However the ACU must be making a massive profit on some of the services it provides to have £2,046,434 in the bank & have a net worth of £3,340,778. My statement is a fact, not a myth.
  2. Pete the Acu is loaded. Its got over £2 million cash in bank with only £ 280,000 of liabilities! Not many companies like this in the current financial climate.
  3. Well spotted Rosey, So to sum up, it may be a 1988 Ty 250 r model. With a 1991 front end fitted & a pinky seat added. I should have spotted it first as it is similar conversion i did to my first mono! Was a good bike rode better than the genuine pinky I bought after it!
  4. At a guess, 91 pink yam, the inlet was shortened to make it run better Was a standard mod along with a 270cc conversion. May have an earlier rear wheel on it, WES silencer Chain has dropped off the chain tensioner !
  5. You will probably be surprised how laid back trials are if you have done amca mx. Usually turn up 45 min before start, find the organisers van, fill out entry form, pay up. Ask what colour flags you will be following & how many laps/sections usually 4 laps of 10. Kit up, 5 mins before start there is usually a briefing, listen then ride. No scruteneer, no track walking, no jobs worth trying to ban you for not attending club night! Ask observer if you are unsure of your route. Trials will not give you a buzz like mx does but most people involved with it are spot on.

    Ty250 On Ebay

......original condition? I cannot remember Yamaha ever producing a plain white petrol tank on a twinshock TY. 'stored on a wooden floor of a horse box hence the original tyres' Heyhey- some great bike facts to be had from ebay!
  8. With regard to modifications on twinshocks giving an unfair advantage, a good example was shown at OTF's last event at Dudwood - Derbyshire. A pensioner (75year old) came 4th on the hardest route on a tuned up moped. It doesn't matter how good or crap the bike is, trials is about the riders ability or lack of it.

    Ty 250 Mono Rim

Sorry to say its more than likely that its scrap. Get a wire wheel on a drill & start cleaning around the valve hole. If you get to solid metal straight away you should be ok to use it. You may find its all oxide with 0.5mm of solid ally holding it together. Mine was like this, i hit it with a hammer & it collapsed. Imagine that happening just as you do a nice drop off.
  10. Pat, did the z spokes on the TyR need altering as I have looked at fitting a morad rim but the diameter looks a lot less than the original rim Looks like your yamaha has had some serious time spent on it. Sorry for hijacking this thread!
  11. Pat, is that a tubeless rim on the rear wheel of your Yamaha?
  12. As the owner of a modified twinshock, a standard twinshock & a new bike, I don't see why these rules need to be introduced. The modified twinshock is nice, but is not that much better than the original. On a pre65/2012 remade bike, compared to the original, there is going be a difference. But on my both my twinshocks the frame, engine, brakes, hubs etc.. are 34 years old. I rode the standard bike last week & got a similar result as I do on the 'trick' bike. The ironic thing is I can ride the modified yamaha any club in the east midland centre & do the classic centre championship, but the club specifically catering for the bike is going to be checking its specification.
  13. Both rubbish - for trials I had some old rims powder coated for 1/2 the price of the tape! Rebuilding wheel is easy, just takes a bit of time. They look like new now, but will probably look rough in a years time. But, i have looked at s3 rim tapes that have been on bikes for 3-4 month & they are starting to come off. You cannot buy individual tapes. Rim tapes must be the biggest piece of marketing crap in years. Don't worry silver rims will be in fashion in a few months time.

    ty 250 wheel

I have had the same problem with a front wheel. Got to the last spoke & snapped it. Ended up with a full new set of spokes, you cannot buy single spokes! An expensive lesson. I am now an expert in removing them!

    ty 250 wheel

Another option, SM Pro 32 hole 'normal' rim from central wheel, about £90. Have the old spokes re plated zinc or chrome. Just make sure when undoing the spokes you don't snap any !
