Twinshock

  1. Started by leeross,

Are you allowed to use tubeless rear rim/tyre in twinshock events? ive looked on the ACU handbook but cant see anything in there. Is it worth the money/effort to respoke the rear to run a tubeless rim/tyre?

Hi I just noticed my front brake lever is cracked - not surprising when you see the bend in it - but I am not sure what to replace it with - is it the Amal 534 and are the reproductions breakable rather than bendable? Can anyone suggest and Australian or UK supplier who will post to Oz

Most twinshock trials bikes have non-parrellel triple clamps, with the forks kicked out about 1.5degrees more than the steering stem rake. Can anybody tell me what the advantage is of this set-up (over parrallel triples)? I've read that they're supposed to be better at/near full-lock, but I don't know if thats correct or why/why-not. Can anyone enlighten us?

What would be the best bang for the buck? I have a ty250A It has about 40% Michelin x11 trials tires and stock shocks. Would I be better off with new Betors or comparable shocks or a new set of sticky Michelins or IRC'S.I ride mostly rock.

Hi, I am rebuilding a Cota 330 and was wondering if anyone can steer me towards a magneto and stator. The bike was savagely treated and the previous owner tried to get the magneto off by using a couple screwdrivers which destroyed the cases and the stator. I think the 349/4 or the 350 will work as well. Thanks.

hello there i was just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on wether petrol has changed over the years ( apart from the cost!! ) , a lot of people seem to have problems with carburation on older machines a mechanic told me that petrol has changed , so that settings on carbs ect maybe different. it could be worth bearing in mind when setting up carbs as i am right now. thanks .

  13. See there's another "Majesty" on ebay. ref 190455109718 Now i am not the authority on Majestys but it looks just a std TY with a Majesty tank and repositioned shock top mounts to me. Plus would be a problem where to ride it as not eligable for ACU events due to the front disc. So Majesty officionados is it a Majesty or just Mutton dressed as Lamb

Well I thought it was destiny... a tidy 1975 Ossa 250 MAR turning up for sale in my village.... I couldn't not buy it...And I still don't regret it. However, my missus now has other opinions and it also appears destiny has other things in mind when it comes to me having middle aged ideas about off road fun. Fortunately you will be pleased to hear at no time during my abject stupidity were any motorcycles harmed in any way.. I picked up the bike and was off straight away to French Mike's house to play in his field. And, half an hour later I was off to the local hospital after losing a daft wheelie at the top of a tiny bank and managing to let the left handle bar rip hol…

  17. I have just found some old magazines in my shed and found an report about Italjet and Moto Gori trials bikes and an interview with John Lampkin when he rode a Fantic 240. I have scanned them if you are interested you can look at them at this link. Open in the large size to be able to read them. http://www.flickr.com/photos/59110928@N06/ Alan.

I have a 1974 Montesa Cota 247T and I would love to hear any suggestions this board might have for upgrades and modifications for this Cota. I have installed a new Michelin rear tube type tyre, a new Vee Rubber front tire, both with new tubes and rim strips. I have a new 9 tooth front sprocket and a 56 tooth rear with new chain. The bike runs well using the stock well worn Amal carb, along with a strange looking non stock airbox that works well. I need a new front brake cable, swing arm bushings are shot. I have set of after market weld on footpegs to replace the horrible stock 1 inch wide pegs. Should I locate them down and back?? I have heard about getting the stoc…

I'm considering have a batch of sidepanels made for the twinshock DG350, would anybody on here be interested in some, I wasn't going to have that many done as I don't ride that much so I'm hoping I wouldn't be breaking them too regularly. Apologies if this is considered an advert post but I couldn't really think where else to put it as nothings for sale at the moment and I was just wondering if there was anybody else needing some?
