I have just replaced all the wiring (not the coils) on my Cota and it is running nicely again. However I have always felt that the throttle response is just too sharp off the bottom - just the slightest incorrect movement on the right hand brake can induce a dangerous spurt ( I notice some gloves are more prone to causing this). I have read elsewhere of people fitting a slow response throttle on their TLRs - I can state categorically that the response on my Cota is way - way more than on my TLR with a standard throttle. I have ridden to a couple of MrB's Bultaco's and the smoothness of the power delivery is very noticeable. Does anyone have experience with fitting …

This might appear as a silly question - but in 40 years I have never used bar ends on any of my trial, trail or road bikes. I understand that open ends can be a safety issue and as I would like to start competing I believe blocking the ends is a requirement. So I purchased some Hebo bar ends with the intention of fitting them to my TLR200 and Cota 247. However, I really don't have a clue what to do - do they go on the bars then place the grips on top of them or do they go on the outside of the grips ie: cut a hole in the grips.... One thing I do know is the Hebo units are too small for my bars although I can probably pad them with some old tube rubber.

Just wanted a bit of advice on Electronic ignition. I'm thinking about fitting some Electrex World electronic ignition on my AJS Stormer and was looking for a bit of confirmation as to whether it would noticeably improve the engine pick up from low revs. The bike is fitted with points and set up 2mm btdc a the moment and does actually run a treat but I keep telling myself that static ignition like what I have can't be getting the most out of the engine. Any advice from any two stroke experts out there, I know some of you must have been motocross stars at some point. Cheers for any replies.

I'm sure this topic is similar to asking what type of oil you use, but I'll ask anyhow. I have a Penton/Wassell trials bike that I've been competing with regularly. Right now I have an old set of Betor shocks I took off my Ossa MAR. I want to replace these old Betors with a modern style shock, and would like some opinions from you folks as to what you would recommend. The only thing I do know is I've seen new Betors that didn't make it through a season (bent). And I've read about others leaking. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, is it possible to run a tubeless tyre on a tubed rim? or would it be a big mistake. Also are the tubed michelin tyres that are still available exactly the same as the tubeless x11. thanks ,

I have just received my new tapered bearings and now I look at the old setup I am not entirely sure where to begin. Does anyone have any diagramatic instructions on a similar type of bike. I know I need to chill the small bits and warm the big bits. I have the old bearings out but I am not sure of best way to remove the lower races from the stem. I ordered the parts from Pyramid and great fast service but I also wonder if any spacers may be required etc or will the replacement just fit straight on. All advice welcome.

Hi folks...help! Last couple of events i've done, bike has started fine when cold...out the garage. But during the day, when i've stopped and switched off between sections its pig to restart. I notice i hear a loud electrical 'crack' when it fires from cold, and never get the same later during the day. when i hear the crack it inevitably starts. When running its fine, usually ticks over though occasionally dies on tick over when hot. I am definitely no expert so any explanations please keep simple. Many thanks Jim - with sore right leg...

Hi, just a thought but other than kudos and styling do the Majesty/Whitehawk 175/200 bikes offer anything over and above a well sorted standard ty and are they worth the extra premium they fetch? Thanks in advance.

I noticed excessive movement in the swing arm on my Cota 247 and I find that the pivot mounting holes on the frame itself have worn and are allowing the movement. Can anyone suggest an easy fix and failing that give me the hard fix options.

Just wondering if any of you folks across the pond (besides Steve Saunders) have used the new to the market Maxton trials shocks ? I've heard that they are the best out there , bar none ... Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them ? Thanks for any info , and I know they are not cheap buy any measure ! Glenn

I've got an OSSA TR77 that i'm doing up at the moment and it's a 250. Got no carb on it but i have a Bing off a 350 TR77 so i was going to fit that. Just wondering if anybody knew the jet sizes for the 250 as i assume they are possibly smaller than the ones for the 350 ? also the carb is leaking petrol. Now i thought it was flooding but after stripping and turning upside down the float needle seems to be sealing ok when i blow through the fuel pipe and there doesnt seem to be any fuel in the float which would normally indicate a punctured float. The float needle valve doesnt seem to be worn either. So only other thing i can think of is the gasket for the float bowl. Are t…

Can anyone recommend a good way of sealing a fibreglass tank. Most people i`ve spoken to say these tanks leaked from new and I should try putting some resin in it and rolling it round until it goes off but I`m not convinced this works. Also I`m still trying to trace the bike and would like to know who rode 250 hiro`s in the 84 ssdt as from what little info is available it looks like the top riders were all on 320`s. All i`ve found out up to now is it was 1st registered in the bristol area and its number 71 of 75. Cheers and all the best for 2012

Hi I've just bought a bike and have stripped it to find what needs replacing, its has a new Domino throttle and cable, as I'm on quite a tight budget I was hoping to use these again. Is there anyway to tell if it's a slow pull or fast pull throttle. Thanks in advance

Hi, Can anybody tell me whether the Montesa 349 piston fits the 330? They both share the same bore size (83.40mm) but the part no's I have found are one digit apart( As is the liner). I recall from posts on TC that HondaRS had to mess about machining slipper ports and piston ring grooves to get a piston to fit. The only aftermarket piston source I've found is here: http://www.kevinbreedonracing.co.uk/products_pistons.asp Any info greatly appreciated.

Tyre discussions appear never ending but that is probably due to the continued variation in costs. My TLR 200 has I think the original dual purpose block pattern (can't remember that make and it's raining too heavy to check) The old tyre is hard and cracked so I guess it's time to replace it. I have Michelins on my Cota 247 and it does ride nicely but when I inherited the TLR I never envisaged it would be as competent as it is and so I went for a VeeRubber tubeless on the rear - what a bugger to fit that was - but it has given me no problems and good wear running around 7 psi. I am not a competition rider - comps are all held too far away for me to be bothered ( the…
