I'm helping a friend redecorate his Cota 247 tank and want to know where the "MADE IN SPAIN" decal was originally located. I have looked at every photo I can find in books and on the interweb and cannot find a photo showing the location of this particular decal. The owner thinks it should be about 50mm to the rear of the fuel cap hole but I want to make sure. Can anyone help please?

Probably a question that's been done to death at some point in the past but has anyone experiences good or bad of using a rear tubeless IRC or Michelin tyre with a tube on a twinshock (mine's an SWM). I've read that grinding some rubber off the bead helps the tyre to seat properly in the rim.

Hi guys. I wana do some mods on my ty. I am looking for dimensions and so on. I wanted to do rear shocks mod. Foot peg and possible the steering angle.. I have quiet a few stories about these but can't find actual measuments ie how far to move mounts and so on..can any one point me in the right direction?

Hi Guys/Gals I have two good prospects for my first restore/mod project. '76Ty175 in excellent condition. Pre '66 Triumph Cub set up for trials with spare frame wheels etc, runs well seems all original Heart says Cub head says TY. Any and all thoughts appreciated. Thanks. Jon

I put my 349 away a year or so ago after hearing what I thought was rumbling main bearings. It joined the queue behind some others I was restoring. Having got down to it now I've found that the crank is showing evidence of a crack lengthways and inquiries reveal that this a weak spot on these motors. Evidently some shear off but this one hasn't yet. Can anyone comment on getting them repaired? SEP in Kegworth have said they will look at it.

I have trawled the archive, but not found quite what I need. I need to replace the tubed tyres on my Ossa MAR, but need something properly road legal. From reading the other threads it seems like Michelin are the only option, though not their radial. I've looked on the Michelin website though they don't list this one, so which should I be buying? Been looking on the www trying to find some info / photos of Fox rear shocks to fit my bultaco, think they use to make shocks for trials bikes ? If you know of any links that could help then please post them below Any info / or photos so i know what to look for or were to look would be a really big help and i would be very great full for your time. Have been riding mountain bikes for the last 25 years and as soon as Fox started making mountain bike shocks they were so much better than the rest of the stuff on the market they cost a bit more, you got so much more performance for your money. Hi folks, title says it all really. I don't know if this subject's been covered before but I was wondering If any one has got a preference for either and if so why? Are they much the same or is one any better than the other? The Whitehawk doesn't seem to be as popular as the Majesty, is this just because there wasn't as many made? Thanks for any comments.

Hi, i'm going to start to tart up my Fantic 300 after the Peak classic trial this weekend, i need to paint up the motor on it, but don't want to strip it to bits. There are different views on stripping paint off spraying etc, but can anyone give me a definitive view on this? How do i get the original paint off? what type of primer do i need, if any? also what type of paint will give me a finish same as or similar to the finish already on it? Incidentally, there are 3 fins broken on barrel, they are in place held by the vibration rubber between the fins, whats best way of re fixing? araldite, or will i have to weld back on and file up? How does a 1980 Montesa 349 compare with the big bore Sherpa T from 1980? Having never been on a Montesa I,m curious if they,re both good,just different and if one is easier to ride for a not so good rider(me).They did a comparison in CDB,but it didn,t seem fair to compare the Montesa with a Puma Sherpa T.

Hi there, I have found a Fantic 240 that is being sold (212cc). It seems to be in good working order, and well kept in a dry garage (though definitely not in condition for showing!) I have never purchased a trials bike before and so want to check that I am not paying over the odds, or paying for rubbish! The seller is asking £1350. I understand that the twin shock pushes the price up, but is this too much to pay? Thanks

Just curious about a term that is used by my trials brothers across the pond.What is a "tick over"? I,m guessing maybe a compression relief.Sorry if it,s a daft question and thanks in advance for an answer.

I know that because of my vast lack of knowledge I might get beat up on this one.It seems to me that the best and most reliable twin shock to grow old with would be a finely modded TY175 bored to a 200.It has to be one of the cheapest to keep up to snuff and easiest to handle as age creeps in to the bones. The weather is rotten here,I,m waiting on parts and bored so I thought I,d try to stir up a topic.

Long time reader 1st time poster !! Im looking at buying a 70s-80s twinshock trials I did ride a montesa 248 and 200 25 years + ago and then a long lay off I have had a couple of bikes over the last couple of years i have tried my hand at pre 65 with a bsa B40 but I struggled with it had lots of issues with the bsa and lost confidence in using it I struggled to find grip and I couldn't start it !!!!! I'm looking to re start riding trials I know I'm never going to be competitive but I want to enjoy myself I don't want a modern mono I would prefer to ride a modern classic I ride a twinshock air cooled road bike So here's my question I have about

Is there any reason "NOT" to use castrol R in a unit motor with a fiber clutch, I have heard loads of different conflicting thoughts. Does anyone actually use it, It will be in a Honda single ?????

Hi I have been off my bikes for several months (valid excuse available). But before my break I was having problems with hand cramp particularly when riding my Cota 247 which has a pretty heavy clutch despite the long arm. So a few weeks ago I ordered a part called Easy Clutch off ebay from a guy in UK for about $30AUD delivered (love our exchange rate)I only got it fitted correctly today and wow what an improvement. Gone from 3 fingers straining to 1 finger easy. Takes a bit of fiddling as intended for modern thinner cables but worth the effort Best $30 I have spent since I bought the compression release
