Twinshock

Haven,t been on a bike all year until yesterday.I rode the 199a first and then the Ty250A in the backyard in a small area.I,m not a very good trials rider to start with so I was just practicing some tight turns and going over logs.I haven,t ridden the 199 much, maybe three times, but it was easier to do all of it on the TY. Does that seem right or does it mean I,m just more use to the trusty TY? I did finally do it all with feet up on the 199,but it took quite a few laps around the course.I had about an hour inbetween, then hopped on the TY and did it first time and kept doing it feet up.Just my novice observation I guess, but the TY seems easier to ride for someone like m…

Next round coming up - 28th September Run by Hillsborough club Hillsborough - a club with a wealth of experience and a reputation for running good events. Proper trials in proper trials country. Home of the Jack Wood, Normandale rounds, River Kwai, the legendary DT Venue is Ughill, not too far from Sheffield, head out west on the A57 towards Glossop and turn right into trials heaven. Where the old Sebac and then Falcon rounds used to be run in the 90s. Happy days, entries of 100 plus riders on twinshocks and Pre65. Now, at last, a chance to ride there again in a twinshock event. So what's going on? Entries appear to be a bit on the slow side dropping through the secre…

Hi all, A couple of years ago I bought a 1985 Montesa Cota 330 as a non runner. I planned to get it going and sell on for a bit of profit. Having got the beast running I couldn't bring myself to part with it. I have now decided to do a little more work and use the bike. Does anyone have any details as to what mods I should consider to make it more competetive and reliable? Riding it around the drive the footpegs seem so high and the handlebars so low. Is this common with bikes of this age? - I am considering lowering the pegs but even the ground clearance seems too high compared to modern stuff. I am missing a few parts. Namely an airbox which I can't locate at th…

Is anyone able to get onto the Tongham Tigers MCC website? http://www.tonghamtigers.co.uk/ Trying to get some info on Sunday's twinshock round, rider list, times etc, which appears to be jointly organised by DOT Owners MC and Tongham. Haven't found anything yet, I can't get past the home page of Tongham's website and it's been like that for a couple of days. The entry form is from DOT Owners MC and says entry list will be on their website but I can't see that they have one Regards Tongham's, I don't know if it's their website that's the problem or my browser or PC firewall Anyone else able to get on it? Don't really want to pester the secretary as they're probably bus…

Just finished restoring my Montesa MH200 (new 2nd oversize piston, rebore, plug, oil, cables, kick start spring etc) Bike will start fairly easy on the choke, but doesn't want to idle. It has the MK2 Amal concentric carb. Does anyone know how to set up idle adjustment on this carb, as it doesn't appear to have an adjusting screw. Also, the revs don't drop off as quickly as they should when throttle is closed. Could this be connected? Any help much appreciated!

Hi guys My dad is unbelievably talented in the workshop but lacks the time to mess around on forums like me . The red Honda is a xl185 reincarnated and the Rothmans is a xr200 mono. My pops has a passion for building classics and as far as im concerned, hes dam good at it. Engines are worked on and done up by his buddy (technical inspector of the SA GP bikes) but EVERYTHING else is done by my dad......chopping frames, molding tanks/fairings/sray jobs the works. My pops has competed on everything with 2 wheels and still rides like a champ. His main focus is classic GP however, fairly recently he built a few classic trials bikes (which initiated my interest in the spo…

Greetings All, I've recently found a 1974 Kawasaki KT250 in reasonable condition for it's age, running well. I've been considering buying it as a second bike to my Cota 311, to ride the aircooled series. What's the typical value of these bikes these days? He is asking around half what I payed for the Cota, which was slightly better condition, but given it's newer that is understandable. Is this a reasonable amount? Does anyone have much information on these? Would they be suitable for riding sportsman and eventually clubmans rounds? From research the biggest problems seem to be poor ability on tight turns and easily stalled, but would this even be a consideration at th…
