these are photos i found on another site but as i found them useful thought id post them here, they should have about 80ml of 7.5 w oil in them. the oil level should be 65mm from the top when filled.

Hi Can anyone out there tell me how much clearance there should be between the side of the airbox and the exhaust downpipe on an early 349? Mine appears to have little to none and has started to melt the plastic? I believe the exhaust to be stock Montesa as I have compared this to my spare which is definitely original, the bracket and frame tube appear to be true, the only thing I have done when recommissioning the bike was replace the original silencer with a WES alloy type but this joins the down pipe nearer to the shock absorber mounting bracket. Likewise if anyone could tell me the clearance of the exhaust from the tank seat unit, obviously I do not …

Hi I am considering changing the footpegs on my 1980 cota 349 to the more modern wider level style as I am finding myself slipping off the original angled pegs in the mud with my flat sole boots! The original pegs are mounted on a lug which is brazed onto the frame so the S3 type pegs will not fit as they need to be open ended with a wider gap to fit either side of the lug, I don't really want to modify the frame so I was hoping someone out there may have some advice? From what I have seen on this forum the later 349s and MH's with the later frame design have a different set up which allows the use of S3s or have they been modified?

Are these two types of bike increadably rare? I've read the Wassell was made in Birmingham and the Dalesman in Otley but the Wassell & later model of Dalesman both had a Sach 124cc engine plus a 6 speed box and both look pretty similar if not identical from photos I've seen on the internet. Were they basically the same bike ? Over the past couple of years I been dreaming of one day coming across one for sale so if anyone could point me in the direction of one, it'd be much appreciated. thanks

  7. Just got my bike (1985 Can-Am 240 Trials - Frame #21) and LOVE how it rides and feels! Need to adjust a few things, but that Rotax motor has plenty of low end to pull me up and over most anything. Put a few miles on the odometer at a local vintage trials event, and was smiling the entire time. New decals and touch ups and this pretty bike will look new again. Thinking about improving the pegs, and maybe new shocks one day. Already put a set of Dunlop GP tires on it, and they seem nice and grippy. I'll dream up more things to do, but for now, will just enjoy my new ride!!! Any and all Can-am/Armstrong info, suggestions are encouraged and welcome! UPDATE! Got t…

I've recently bought a 199 Bult with an aftermarket frame which I thought at first to be a Miller frame circa 78,79.I`m now pretty sure it isn't.Anybody know about Mick Whitlock Bultaco frames? It's not one of Steve Wilsons and I can't think of anybody else who made chrome Bultaco frames in any sort of quantity.

  9. I'm working on getting mine back together after having it in pieces for several years. I did a search and it looks like there are a few other KT250 owners (at least one with a Gollner frame) here, but some of those posts were pretty old. http://www.eurospares.com/kt250.htm is a page on my website with information on my bike. I've put Fox Trials Shox on, retoothed the dished rear sprocket, modified the head squish clearances, done a little porting, built a pipe, aluminum tank (terminal rust on the stocker) and front fender stays and not much else. The piston is a second series Honda CR/MT250 Wiseco ((1975-77). Details of some of the changes are on my website. I'm ge…

I was wondering what everyone was doing for rear tyres. I have been told the tube type michelin has been discontinued, is this true or not. I have a tubeless 36 spoke morad rim but am resisting using it as I would like to keep the bike looking period correct. I can get IRC tube type rears, but was concerned they might not stay on the rim, the bike is a bultaco with akront rims. Cheers Greg

Probably been asked loads of times but... Got the trials bug again after a long absence, have a 5 year old beta evo I've just started riding again but the twinshock scene is pretty decent where I live so want to get a competitive twin shock, got a budget of £2k but looks like the bikes I'm after won't come in at that budget! Was after a fantic or ty175 but both look over my budget, have seen a few ty250 for around £1500, which are about a grand cheeper than the fantics or ty175's, are the 250's that much worse?! Or shud I just stump up the extra grand? Or are there any other alternatives out there for a competetive twinshock?

Just came across this on Charlies site. Obviously the B25 is not a Pre 65 and falls into the Twinshock category unless your club has a Pre 70 class like the BMCA. This is vid number 1. there are follow ups.

Having seen a bit of the Manx classic/twinshock while I've been at the Manx Grand Prix I'm interested in what basics constitute a twinshock. Other than having two shocks! What brakes, frames, engines etc are allowed, size (as in fork diameter) or age limits. Anything else that should be considered before I start to make something that's not allowed. Even more interested after seeing some of the pit bike engine specials people have made which look very similar to the first bike I ever rode in a schoolboy competition. The rules for classic and twinshocks seem to be even more liberal than those for classic racing. Which I didn't think was possible!

Hi, I' am looking for someone that can manufacture custom made sprockets to my Panda. The bike has a Franco Morini engine, the shaft looks very similar to the one from Fantic's 125 and 200 Minarelli engine but is different in geometry. Any resources as I need just 3 sprockets with 11 teeth for a 428 chain? I have just now a used 11 teeth and a used 13 teeth which comes from a Swedish 125 Monark which had used that engine too. Left to right: - section through the front sprocket, - front sprocket 12 teeth with right shaft diameter but for 50cc Malaguti/Aspes for a Moped chain, - front sprocket 13 teeth for F. Morini with inner dimension, - front spr…

Another question to those who have ridden both. Were the SWM bikes of 1981-82 better than the last Sherpa T? Maybe just a matter of opinion, but if they were was it by a big margin? Did they handle better or have a better power delivery? I have only ever ridden one around the yard of a friends for about 5 minutes so I couldn,t really tell if it was loads better then my Sherpa T.

Looking for new shoes for my Penton Mudlark. Not sure what the hubs are, other than OEM. I'm told Rickman Zundapp are the same and maybe REH. But I'm not sure. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

  18. Hello, I'm currently restoring and early Puch engined Dalesman. Can anybody tell me how many teeth the front sprocket should have? The original is missing. Also the rear rubber drive damper is somewhat past its best. I've trawled the Internet but can't find one anywhere. Any ideas? It's a Puch rear hub setup. Thanks! Martin.
