Twinshock

Any help gratefully received. I have recently taken apart my forks on My KT250 to replace the seals and found no springs inside. sourced some new springs, but didnt realise they were so small and they are in two parts. Looked at an exploded diagram of the forks and it seems there are a lot of gubbins inside that I havent got either, spacers and the likes. Can anyone help with this because I am not sure how they line up inside or what else is needed. I have a workshop manual, but it doesnt help much really

I'm struggling with the position of the rear brake after moving the footrests back. How have people modified the rear brake after moving the footrests. Pictures Would be great. Cheers Ben

Thought you might find this pic interesting. It is Clive Dobson (500t in the Talmag and Scottish) on the 4 stroke Gollner Kawasaki at Horsham clubs Presidents Cup at Plaistow early 80's. I believe only one was made that started off as yellow then became red, apparently the engine wsa pretty standard KL with some KT ratios modified to fit, nice bike tho'.

What inner tube is recommended for rear fitment with a radial tire? I used to get a Michelin tube marked as Special Trials 4.00R18, but I can't find them anymore.

Hi there i wonder if any one can help me with the removal of the clutch basket on my 1974 mar as i need to replace the crank seals and primary chain . Done the flywheel side and the cush drive is loose ready to take off but i cant get the basket off , i have removed the nut but not sure if the basket just pulls off with a puller its got a sort of washer/ nut thats round behind the nut and locking washer that looks like it needs to be un screwed ???? thanks for any help you may have . cheers martin

The Trials is right after the CC race. Several people I know do both the CC race and the Trials, so there's time between events to make your way over. There will also be at least 1st place trophies for novice, intermediate and expert classes, for post 1979 air-cooled Trials bikes with drum brakes and twin shocks, even though this is a non points ahrma class. How many teeth on final drive and rear wheel sprocket for standard 247 please? Anyone and opinion on better combination? Thanks

Hi, i`ve come across a real gem of a montesa 247, its been sat in a garage since 82 and is totally original although a little rusty in places and the seat has dried and split. Unfortunately the rear guard snapped at some point but I do have the part to piece it. Its road reg and still has the rob edwards stickers on the tank. Trouble is I cant get the thing to start. I`ve done everything I already know it will need. I emptied the tank and filled with fresh premix fuel. Ive checked the points and timing (.40mm gap and opening at 2.5mm btdc). the spark is blue and strong. I`ve completely stripped and cleaned the carb, the choke jet was blocked solid, the main wasnt much b…

Most shock absorber makers offer a choice of 40 or 50 ib spring rating, I realise that the angle the shocks are mounted at, distance forward of the rear wheel spindle & weight of rider all make a difference but is there a guide as to which spring is most suitable.

Hoping someone can help me on this? My fantic has developed a problem! It will start ok, run then die like the kill button is pressed, some times it will run for a few seconds other times a few minutes Disconnected kill switch completely Check earth and all connections, good Cleaned carb with airline all good, Stator was rewound after the new year Spark is good, Replaced plug, cap and HT lead Top coil is 12 month old dans tyoe, Fault started after a couple of sections of trial, it was running great 5 weeks earlier on the last outing.

The time has come for some new shocks for my Bultaco, it is a 198A sherpa, so shock length 340mm. however for a mere mortal clubman rider what do I go for, budget is £250 max. however I am confused.com There are Betors, which I have fitted currently, budget range circlips to adjust, work fine, just thought I would snaz the old girl up a bit. Betors expert range? Sammy Miller Betors again clubman and expert? NJB's not had alot of success with these, however not had a pair for about 5 years? New range of Betors available from Dave Renham at in-motion? Falcons? so open to suggestions or peoples personal preferences

Hi people , can a tubeless type IRC rear tyre be used on the Morad rim , fitted on many twinshock bikes ? only asking because i picked up the wrong tyre at Telford .....Cheeeers

Hi All Newbee here looking some advice for a KT250 resto project I just started. Going to try my hand at riding trials next spring and preping a bike to learn on. I would like to do a complete resto, as best as possible within reason, since I do want to ride the bike. It looks pretty complete but have already seen parts that dont match the Parts Manual I bought. Are there any KT250 folks here? Current parts I know I need to source are - Seat - Carb,air box boot - Sprockets and Chain Would ike to add a compression release, since head is drilled for it already, anyone do this? Well I'd heard it was possible but saw it with my own eyes yesterday.....I wish I'd had a camera to take a snap of the guys face when he let the clutch out! Always thought this was a Villiers party trick, is it common on Fantics....can't tell you which model it was?

Hi all, I have changed my front tire out (after much learning, trials, and tribulation [see what I did there?]), only to find that my front wheel is offset. Its not crooked, so to speak... its just not centered and I cannot figure out why it would be like this. It is sitting to the left-side of the bike. It doesn't wobble when it turns, its just not centered between the forks. Everything is fitting back together the way it should to my knowledge... I made sure to key up the speedometer and the drum will even bolt in as it should... anyone seen this before or have any idea what I may have done wrong? Hi all, Just curious if anyone knew what the carb on the KT250s was. I believe from the bit of Googling that I've done, its a VM26. Is that correct? I keep debating on whether I want to buy a new one or not. B&J sell one that's prejetted and includes a new throttle, but its a little bit expensive at $190. Having said that, I would be able to gain from their expertise and would be getting more than just a carb and throttle. At the same time, mine should run well once I get it cleaned, but I'd like to have a backup just in case. This thing is 40 years old... haha! I'm also thinking I'm going to need to order at least a new bowl gasket for my existing carb, whic…
