Just finished watching the DVD of this years six days, I'd heard that it was a tough one but christ, rocks, rocks and more rocks with water thrown in for good measure. I was worn out watching it. Much respect to all those who finished it, I might be fit enough in about 10 years.

With the Royal wedding having been and gone, World attention has now shifted to the loch-side town of Fort William, which will be the base for the famous Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) that will celebrate its centenary when the actual competition gets underway early tomorrow morning. For one hundred years motorcyclists have made the pilgrimage to the Highlands to take part in what remains a unique event and one that still duly tests man and machine to the limit. Glorious sunshine created the fitting backdrop for the competitors to make their last minute preparations in order to be ready to be part of this historic occasion.

The 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) has once again confirmed itself as the single most important event in the international trials calendar, with this classic competition set in the Scottish Highlands having attracted just under two hundred and seventy riders from twenty-two different countries. Please note that no traders will be allowed into the West End Car Park before 6pm on Thursday 3rd May. This year the local council have asked us to ensure that no vans, trucks or stalls go into the car park earlier than 6pm on Thursday. This is one of the conditions that are to be met if we are to be given the use of the car park for the week, so we'd ask you all to respect their request and refrain from parking any trade vehicles in the car park until then. After that, the famous Rab will be on duty to direct operations - just one of his many talents! Looking forward to seeing you all there again - keep your fingers crossed for some sunshine!

Day one of the centenary edition of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) has finally arrived. One hundred years after this adventure first began, the lucky two hundred and seventy six riders have gathered in the West End car park for the start of the 2011 SSDT. The history of the SSDT is rich, with only an elite group of riders having managed to put their name on the famous winners’ trophy. 2007 SSDT victor and current British trials champion James Dabill is keen to prove his victory four years ago was no fluke and that he has what it takes to claim his second victory on this important occasion.

Thursday lived up to its traditional tough billing as the 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) moved into the second and deciding phase of the competition. Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) used the opportunity of the longest day of the trial, and the toughest to date, to move into the lead for the first time this week. His single mark loss today puts him on seven in total, and sees him move ahead of overnight leader Alexz Wigg (Gas Gas) who dropped eight marks on day four.

Seventeen-year-old twin brothers Brad and Dec Bullock are gradually coming to terms with the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT), with this being the first time that either has competed in the world famous event. The teenagers from Tarvin near Chester have grown up riding trials, but have never witnessed the SSDT first hand prior to making their debut this week. Gas Gas team mates Dougie Lampkin and Michael Brown share the lead at the end of day one of the 2011 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) after a glorious opening to the centenary edition of this World famous event. Both Lampkin and Brown completed the first of six days without any loss of marks having ridden the initial thirty observed sections that took them on a fifty-eight mile tour of the Scottish Highlands in an overall time limit of just over seven hours. Whilst conditions out on the moors were as dry as they have ever been, the lack of water over the winter months had left the boulders green and greasy. Heavy rain and strong winds at times failed to knock Dougie Lampkin (Gas Gas) off course as he moved within touching distance of recording a seventh Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) win following his performance today. Lampkin parted with only one mark on day five to open up a commanding lead ahead of tomorrow's final showdown as his nearest challengers faltered in the testing conditions. Sam Connor (Beta) will head into day six trailing Lampkin by twelve marks as he dropped ten marks today, that being his heaviest daily loss of the week to date. Day one of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) is a daunting time for all concerned, but for the small number of virgin riders who are new to the event, the opening day is filled with even more tension than usual. 2009 UCI Downhill World Champion and three times World Cup Champion Steve Peat has made his name on the mountain biking scene, but motorcycle trials is still relatively new to the thirty-three year old. Having entered and successfully finished the notorious Scott Trial in 2010 the friendly giant from Sheffield decided to enter the SSDT for 2011.
