I have a aprilia climber 280r. its got a few problems i am justs trying to sort out. One of them is the engine cooling system, under the fuel tank there is a little tank that i asume holds the anti freeze because it conects up to the line of the radiator at the front? The problem i am having is that i keep filling the tank up with antifreeze and it keeps draing out and it doesnt apear to be leaking out the bottem???? can anyone tell me the problem i have or is it suposed to happen? Many Thanks Henry

hi all can anyone tell me what the ign timing should be on a 280 watercooled engine, in mm btdc please. i've just found that the ign coils on the inside of the rotor cover had come loose. hence it was backfiring and obviously wouldn't run . iv'e set the coils in the middle of the adjustment limits, and got it running, but would like to get it right before using it again.....many thanks

Hi peeps! Just bought a climber 280 today and been trawling the net for info which landed me here. I've read the posts before and yes mine does have leaking fork seals..oh joy as it seems to be a common issue with these bikes..I was rather interested in the 3 seal mod mentioned elsewere in the forum as a possible fix!! If anybody on here has any tech info on these bikes I'd be very grateful, any manuals or parts suppliers contact details..that kinda thing..to be honest i dont even know the oil pre mix ratio so was going to play safe with 30:1 as thats what i run the track RGV on I've seen 50:1 or 70:1 but what do you guys use? Thanks in advance for an…

Hello fellow climber owners, Have been doing one up over the last year or so (full strip down) and now fully built . It starts OK and runs OK so decided to take it out the other weekend (to relive my younger days as trials rider !). After about 30 mins one of the water pipes started leaking hot water (couldn't see where) and notest the fan wasn't working, so off to the van and home. Had a look the other day and tried putting a 6 volt battery over the fan and to my delight the fan spun up. So next was the fan switch and once it was removed tried to test it by seeing if it earthed out ie. single pin to body of switch, in boiling wate…

So, I have an Aprilia climber 280, i bought it a few months ago and its a bit tatty! I have replaced the kickstart lever, the brake pads, the gearchange lever and the rear shock. I will be riding it again soon to check if it was worth while or not! I got the kichstart lever and gearchange lever from Andover Norton - they were really helpfull and matched my old parts up in no time at all! The pads were from wemoto - although took 2 months to arrive (although i blame the post not them) the shock was an ebay item but again i was lucky to receive a tidy item! im quite new to trials so i dont have any wonderful hints or tips for the Aprilia crowd but im sure there will b…
