What an Awesome day!!! 9 sections 4 laps new record number of sections for us . 11 riders out today we seem to grow by a couple of riders each event... it may not seem like a lot but it was only a few years ago we only had 4 or 5 riders locally now we are over 25 (even if they don't all make it to events) it is great to see the numbers growing. Looking to have 4 events next year + training session and a 3 day indoor demo at the outdoor show.

It's now only two weeks until rounds one and two of the Canadian Championship Trial on Vancouver Island in Beautiful British Columbia. - The weather in BC is quite mild, and most riders have already got in lots of practice, except for the Eastern riders, and this includes current Champ Steve Foord who emigrated from the UK last year. Steve lives in Calgary. Alberta, and at the moment they are suffering with a spring snow storm. - The Shawnigan Lake area, where the Trial will be held, is a Trials rider's paradise , with tight trails, and lots of big moss covered rocks. The Clerk of the course for the event, is multi- time Canadian Champ, Steve Fracy, whose son Matt …

The 2009 WEC Canadian Trials Champion, is Stephen Foord who just moved to Canada from the UK. "Foordy" rode his Team Outlaw Sherco 290 to wins in three of the four rounds, held in BC and Ontario. An accomplished " All rounder" - Foordy also competes in Cross Country and Hare Scrambles events on a Mountain MC sponsored Beta RR450.

Just a note to those needing a riding fix this weekend; we at the CPTA are hosting our first competition of the year this weekend (Feb 21st) at the Ioco club property. The weather is promising to be perfect with three loops laid out for beginners, junior/intermediate, and advanced/experts. All riders are welcome, with sign-up at 9:30 am, riders meeting at 10:00 am, riding shortly after. Thanks to Paul Brodie and Ted McDowell for the hard work getting the event ready. Spencer Fitschen

The March trial at the Ioco riding area is to be held this weekend, the 28th. Bobby T has put together two loops, one for the beginner/juniors, and one for the Intermediate/advanced/experts; if the past is any indication, look for some very traditional trials sections, well laid out. Spencer

Just to give everyone a heads up. The Canadian Pacific Trails Association (CPTA) will be having their next trial in Squamish B.C. at one of the riding areas of the Howe Sound Trials Riders Association. The ride will be on Aug 24th, 2008 with the sign-in at 9:00 am on the pegs at 10:00 am. Their will be two loops through the Crumpit Woods riding area, one for junior and intermediate the other for the advanced and experts, both featuring dirt, the occasional log and copious amounts of the famous Squamish granite. This is a points event so the normal trophys are on offer, but we also have a very generous group of supporters so we have a draw at the awards ceremony to give aw…
