Hi guys and gals, new to the forums and want to share an observation. I was once blessed with both a model 116 350 Alp and a model 85 250 Alp. Both used the stock Amal carb and to my knowledge were set up correctly in regards to timing, fueling etc. The model 85 RIPPED and had great midrange and top end power...the thing was like a rocket ship when wound up. The 350 was more like a tractor, lots of power but not nearly as wicked. It was almost 4 stroke like with a wide, consistent power band I didn't expect out of a larger displacement version of the previous motor. Is there one single difference (like the 116s massive, ridiculous flywheel and count…

Hi there, nice that i found this forum and i am not the only Bultaco addict round here...I just wanted to sell a 183 Sherpa i bought for a friend, who didn't want it anymore. When it was standing in my garage, i said to myself: he, thats a really nice bike...It was stored 25 years in a shed and had a real daily driver life before that...I put some air in the tires, brake cleaner in the carb, some fuel and the engine fired up. I could not believe when i made a few rounds with it on our place...and decided, thats my new project, the bike i always wanted to have since i was 18. crazy, and makes really no sense, cause i have three other Bultacos and a montesa trial... I …

I have recently bought a 1976 Sherpa T 350 model 183 which I have not yet taken delivery of due to it being in transit from a few thousand kilometres away, should see it soon. The pics I have of it, show it wearing a Mikuni or a TMK or something. Basically, I want to return it to std once it arrives and I have a worn Bing T84 (28mm) that I just bought on flea-bay that I want to refurb and fit to this bike, I know that this will require new inlet/outlet rubbers but they are easily sourced from places like in-motion. Question is for any aficionados, what jetting would one recommend for this model with the Bing 28 mm ? I have a copy of a model 191 owners manu…

Looked over for some info about turning a Model 212 into a trials bike. Judging by catalog photos, the frames look very similar. Are the triples different? Other than the tank/seat, and guessing the motor, any major differences? Want to turn this into a slow bike, but if it's too much work, will leave it a trail bike. Thanks for any info/help you can provide!

Hi all, I have purchased some new fork springs for my #158 Sherpa T 250 which are just over 500mm long and are so stiff when I install them that I can hardly compress the front end. My bike only came with one spring so I can't compare compression but the one old spring I have is about 450mm (50mm shorter) and comes up to the top of the tube when I remove the top cap. These new ones stick right out and it's a real struggle to the get the top caps on. The reseller tells me these springs are correct for this bike and something else must be wrong with the fork. So, I took the fork apart and it all look ok, perhaps I have incorrect length damper rods. The top tu…

I don't know if this is allowed so please remove if not. I am thinking of selling my 1976 Sherpa 191 and would like an idea of what it might be worth. If any one is willing to help I can give details but most of work has been mentioned on this site. Thanks for looking. Neil

I have a 1968 Campera. How do I wire the brake light switch, as I have a feed wire coming into the switch from the frame then another wire running from brake switch to the resister before heading to the brake light bulb. If I disconnect the two wires from each other at the brake switch the bike stops running. If the two wires touch ground the bike stops running?

As the title says, do you have anything that you think makes your bikes history a little bit more unique. There must be some really interesting stuff that has gone on in the lives of these bultaco's.

What would you recommend as a good shock absorber for a 199? I'm not a serious competitor so don't need the latest and greatest, just something reasonable with a reasonable price. The Betor Experts on it now were fine when they were in good condition but now they're barely functional. And what spring rate for an 80kg rider?

Hello, I liberated a M27 in what I now know is an early M49 frame from 35 years slumber in an open fronted cow shed. The rebuilds coming along now with just one major component missing. The exhaust front pipe. Does the M27 and M49 use the same pipe? Where on earth do I get one? (in motion can't help). Happy days Peter

My Alpina Model 188 was originaly fitted with a battery. I do not have a wiring diagram but I assume that it will need to have a rectifier fitted. This was missing when I bought the bike. Rather than trying to track down an original rectifier that will probabaly be old stock, expensive and not work anyway I was planning of fitting a simple bridge rectifier from RS or other supplier of choice. Has anybody had an experiance of a similar mod and can give advice? I think most owners will not have expriance of Bultaco's with batteries so am not expecting a reply but thought I would ask anyway. To be honest the bike will very rarely used in the dark so if the charging sys…

One restored Model 80 and one proud owner. Almost 12 months later than anticipated, my Father officially unveiled his fully restored Sherpa T Model 80. I think you'll all agree it was well worth the wait.

Hello All Working on a set of forks for my Model 10 project and have a couple. of questions which I hope all of you with more Bultaco knowledge than me can answer. On stripping down the forks I have found that the damper components have suffered from corrosion as can be seen in top photo, so does any body know if these valves are available ? if not looks like a job for my lathe and milling machine. Second question is how does the bottom aluminum fitting come off the damper rod is it threaded or press fit any advice before I start as I want to limit damage.

Hi to all, I was wondering whether anyone can advise me please? I'm about to begin restoring my Bultaco M27 and didn't notice that the top clamp on the trees is wrong! I know the rarity of the 27 and the availability of parts is slim. Does anyone know whether the M10 top clamp is the same as the M27 please? If it definitely is then my percentage level of finding one may increase by a small fraction! any help will be greatly appreciated. many thanks Gary.

Hi all, I've just taken delivery of a Sherpa T 250 (serial 158) which is about 80%. I want to treat as a slow project to perhaps do the odd twin shock comp, don't want to go mad polishing and that, want to ride it properly. First thing I need to look at is the bottom of the frame, and the clearance to the engine. the frame is in pretty good condition but the bottom rails are a bit squashed, I would imagine there should be more clearance to the engine that this shouldn't there? It feels like the engine is sitting on the rails at the moment. Cheers

Hello Guys, I'm new here but I notice there are a few queries about old Bultacos. I have a Sherpa T which has been in my shed for years begging for attention which I have not given as I have old cars whose needs have been greater until now. Anyway, its a 1968 engine no.M1001275, Frame no. B100275. Its a 4 speed. I will need parts for this such as cables, rear brake inner drum (on which the shoes are mounted) third gear sprocket (serious! broke it when changing gear with a broken clutch cable. Silly, but I was young then!) Various other stuff. Where's the best place to look?
