Bultaco

Can anybody help me? My sherpa m80 has 520 chain with 11 tooth sprocket on the front, and 40 tooth on the back, but is to fast at low throttle in first gear. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which sizes of sprockets to use. Dont think I can go any smaller on the front so it probably needs larger on the back, but what size?

Hi all i have just purchased a 1966 sherpa T sammy miller, it ran for the first time in 25 yrs and sounds fantastic after only cleaning the carb and replacing the coil, plz can one of you experts out there send me some pics as i am struggling to find any on the web, and i would be gratefull for any imput or advice about these bikes/ i have tried to add a pic but if it doesnt work i can email one to anybody that is interested. My 159 will kick up ok on choke and run fine although it needs the odd blip to keep it going when the choke is off. However, after about a minute from starting it just dies as if there is no fuel getting through. It's fitted with a Bing Carb. Any suggestions or tips gratefully received.

Sounds like an election year question, eh? I'm getting a serious jones for a Sherpa, but I already have 4 different shift/clutch/throttle configurations in the herd, and another just might send me over the edge. Actually...I no longer have a right-foot shifter, so, in some sick way, it might round out my "collection". I do have a left-hand throttle that's good for some very scary moments because the right grip twists too (spark control). Anyway...I know all street bikes had to shift on the left starting in '75, is this the case for offroad stuff, too? I also know that it was a quickly-made rule that caught even HD by surprise, and their first couple years of left-…

hi all ,i have recently bought a 1974 sherpa t ,i have fitted ebc shoes and the result is marginally better than no shoes in it at all , it has nickel drums , would someone know if possibily i have to machine off the chrome and mabey fit a steel liner to get them to work , or any other suggestions ? thanks in advance , steve

I recently acquired a Sherpa 199A. The bike was set up with a left side rear brake pedal and a right side shift lever. Was this a stock set up for Bultaco in the US. The gearbox is set up to move the shift lever to either side, but the drum break is on the left side of the bike. Is there a way to convert this bike over to a right side brake pedal. On the right side frame there is a cable guide (looks original) welded to the frame, I assume for routing a cable from a right side brake pedal to the left side brake assembly. Any suggestions?

Spotted this little beauty in the parc ferme at this years SSDT. WHAT A CRACKER. I wanted it so badly, it hurt!! Talk about MINT, it looked like it had just left the factory

Anyone know any 35mm diameter replacement fork staunchions for 325 Sherpa T circa 1977 - 78. Many Sherpa T forks are severely corroded, I am interested to know if anyone has found a replacement pair of new staunchions from another Trials bike make that would do the job ? Fork staunchions slighly increased in diameter could be accomodated in the Sherpa fork yolks. As an alternative option, has anyone ground existing corroded Sherpa T fork staunchions, re chromed and stress relieved, etc ? Brian H

My Sherpa M49 came without the (top-in bottom-out) triangular box end muffler. I have not seen them for sale anywhere so am guessing will need to make one. I don't have any decent close-up photos of an original muffler to help with this. Maybe the replica triangular muffler (bottom-in top-out) as sold by Sammy Miller can be easily modified. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks David Lahey

Just Found this on ebay

I have now ridden a trial on my recently restored Bultaco 350 model 199a the blue one but find the clutch take-up too sharp. It has the all metal clutch the plates appear to be flat & in good condition not blued or burred on the tangs, everything seems ok, the clutch does not slip but take up is sharp making bike control difficult also it does not clear very well making it very difficult to select neutral with the engine running. Has anyone any ideas has I have tried everything that I can think of without success & this problem is spoiling what is otherwise a very nice bike to ride.
