Need photo's & help please. Have purchased a airbox assembly & side panels from Sammy Miller. The assembly consists of the airbox only !!, no filter access cover available ! The airbox supplied has a large hole at one side for the filter, i assume i will have to make a access cover plate. Also how do i fit the narrow pin side panels supplied. The airbox has no holes or grommets etc. Can anyone help with photo's of the genuine airbox & filter access panel c/w nut etc. This would help me figure out. In hindsight should have waited and bought a good secondhand one !!!!!!!

So the road to Robregordo starts here and now. Dug the old 199b out and started to begin fettling ready for Robregordo next year. Now as previously mentioned somebody in the dim and distant past fitted an Amal Mk2 to her and i've never liked the running with it fitted. So going to fit a new carb but which? Ruled out the Bing as too many people say it's crap. The Mikuni or the Dellorto seems the way to go. A lot of the Spanish lads had them fitted i noticed at Robregordo this year then again i've also heard good reports about the Mikuni. I had one fitted to a Bultaco a long long time ago and seem to remember it worked well. They are both roughly the same price so what is…

Just looking at the MOT regs and it says that bikes first used after the 1st Jan 1973 must have horns which are not of bulb type. Do many testers notice this or can I get away with it? If not, how would I wire in a horn to the wiring? The bike in question is a Model 124 with the standard Femsa igntion with the Red wire replaced by Black (other wires as standard) and I don't normally use a chocolate block in the wiring systems. Another question is how do tester react to slightly bent wheels (luckily I have a good set )

Hi guy's, i have been on the dreaded ebay again and got a real nice T250 (1978) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 but 3 of the front wheel spokes are broken so where can i get a few spokes and nipples (10 inch ones ) besides bultacouk.com as they only seem to sell them in sets? Also what colour should the frame on a 198 model should be ? as this one has a nice dark blue colour but i thought it should be black! thanks Dave

Hello! I'm restaurating a Sherpa 199B. The betor shock absorbers are completly damaged. So i have to look for new one. The length of the original betors are mounted on my bike is 345mm. I have found pretty shocks on web called BBS-competition. But they only available in 340mm or 360mm length. What do you think is better 340mm or 360mm? Dose the 360mm shocks fit the 199B? Have any classic-freaks experience with the BBS-competition? Thanks for your answer!

Now i know there has been a bit of talk on here about different carbs etc. Well my 199b has a Mk2 amal fitted instead of the std Bing and as i am trying to get it sorted with a view to using it in twinshock trials then i was wondering about the carb. Rang Bultaco UK today and asked about the bing they show on their website but they havent got any in and have to order from Germany plus were not sure of the price but said it would be more than on the website. So what do i do ? Anybody had any experience of using alternative carbs on 340 Bultacos? Dont mind spending money but havent got a lot left after the James build so need to spend it wisely. To my mind the options a…

Hi, Bought a 350 Sherpa to restore, but a change of job means I won't have the time. Can anyone recommend someone who restores old bikes (apart from the obvious dealers), preferably in the Midlands area? Cheers,

Ok, guys ive now installed a new ign side crank seal, im sure the clutch side seal should be ok as 1, the bike dosen't smoke excess, 2, the bike starts 1st or 2nd kick! BUT ive still got a problem with the lower end of the rev range! the bike idles for a very short while then dies! but the revs dont pick up well as in you have to throttle it lts to keep the revs up and stop it from dying! and have to give it loads of revs to pull away! the mid and top ends good and it will really get a move on when needed! ive cleaned out the carb , jets etc! the vent pipe on the tank clear, new s/plugs gapped and fitted! fresh petrol added! the timings not been checked as …

All this talk of Twinshocks has got me thinking about using the old Bultaco again so as i cant do much with the James till next week thought i would drag the old girl out and get her up and running again. After a bit of faffing about draining fuel and cleaning the carb got her running. Now to get her Trial ready. So some advice required please. Its a model 199B 340 81 Sherpa What is the std gearing? It's just that it feels a bit high geared. It's got knackered rear shocks so they need replacing. Will probably go for Betors but the ones on it are 360mm center to center. Is this right? Looks a bit high at the back. Steers ok but seem to remember 340mm was the length fo…
