Bultaco

I have a late 60's early 70's front wheel, with the hub that is the diameter of the brake drum, both sides. I need a brake plate for this and wondered if this hub needs the plate with the cable guide and the rear facing brake arm, or can later plates be used in this hub? Cheers.

Hello all, At the moment i`m restoring my sherpa 198A with a mk2 concentric and i just cant get the thing to flood from the tickler. I`ve had the carb in bits probably 2 dozen times now, have checked everything is clear and put a new gasket in. The bike runs fine once its started which i can only do by taking the plug out and `priming` it with a drop of petrol. I`ve got new crank seals for going in so i`m hoping this will solve the problem. I`m wondering if the jets are wrong or there is even a jet missing. The float chamber is filling up fine and i`m at my wits end!!! If anyone can help or as had similar problems with this type of carb any advice or comments wou…

I am having a difficult time getting the rear wheel axel etc. back together. I took pictures before disassemly and it is set up the same way now. But when I tighten the axel nut the wheel will not turn. I know it needs new bearings and seals but .. I was hoping to get it back together to give it a once around the yard and work out some of the other set up issues (brakes, clutch etc.) Does this set up look right? Thanks

Hi I am in the final stages of rebuilding my Sherpa 80 series motor. Bottom end is complete and fine. I am about to fit the new piston and any clarification on side play at the small end would be helpfull. I have 2 Sherpa the other is a 198-A which has recessed spacers between the needle roller and piston. The new piston for the 80 engine is not machined either side of the small end, so my question is :- A Do I turn some recessed washers and equalise the conrod with the pistons centreline minimising side play. B Not worry and just use the plain washers supplied by bultaco UK and thin them to minimise the side slack on the end of the rolller bearing allowing the…

Just wondering what gearbox oil people are using these days. I would like to try synth equivilant 10W/30 or /40 as i use in my gas gas - can anybody comment please? I will stay with ATF in the clutch though. Also i have just rebuilt my M199 forks (just two new o-rings and made up new piston seals)what a difference. the forks are now the best i have ever had on a Taco but feel a bit firm for my light weight. I have always gone by the what is the norm (180cc - SAE 20/25) can anybody comment on a lighter oil or more airspace before a go to the effort of changing it. thanks

Hi. I have a couple of question relating to my M92 project. I'm putting together an exhaust system for an M92. It needs the smaller square flange for the square 325 barrell. Are the pipes that fit the two flange sizes different or do they both take the same pipe diameter? I can get my hands on a later exhaust that has the larger flange welded on. If I ground this off would the pipe fit inside a smaller flange? Also I have a set of forks. the stanchions are tapered at the tope and have knurling 200mm from the top. I need a set of triple clamps with the lowered alloy bottom yoke. I was wondering if they are all the same or if there are different sizes on some models. I …

Here is a picture of my brand new Sherpa T. My Dad called me about a year ago and said a friend was selling a Bultaco in mint condition. So off I went with cash in hand. When I got there it was far from mint. But it was all there. Loaded it in my truck and let it sit in my garage for 6 months. It took about a year to restore. New paint everywhere. A lot of polishing (on the bike). A lot of headaches mainly with the swing arm. My wife seemed really impressed with the results Oh well maybe my friends will like it. Critisism allowed this is my first restore. Oh crap im turning into my Dad.

I have a one peice pipe and mid box from a mid to late 70s sherpa 250. It has the square flange and retaining spring fitting, although the pipe has been welded to the flange. The mid box sounds rough as hell and I can hear things rattling about in there, so it's probably shot. For my M92, which would have had a three peice exhaust, I'm wondering if i can cut the mid box off and fit a new one, in the style of the original . Also wondering how the attachment would work. Does the pipe need to slot into the mid box, with the rubber coupling over the top, or does the rubber bridge a gap between the two? Does anyone make a mid box designed for replacing this part of a one peice…

Hi when I bought my latest Bulto (199) its all in pieces. As ever bought it off a guy who was going to rebuild it to its former glory. It had a noise in the engine so he stripped the whole bike down and put it into boxes. Found out that he could not find out what the problem was and left it! So I end up with Saturday putting it all roughly back together again to find out what

Right folks can anybody answer this for me please. I thought all bultaco 340cc models had a six speed box, is this correct ? In my area there is a bultaco 340 but the owner claims its only a 5 speed ? is this some hybrid or did bulto make the 340 in both 5 and 6 speed versions ? cheers

Gentlemen Your help would be appreciated to help me locate the various parts of this tubeless tyre inflation valve assembly. The assembly comprises the following parts: Main Stem housing valve Two rubber washers (one either side of sealing strip?) One domed metal washer (between lower rubber washer and knurled ring) One knurled metal ring (between domed washer and wheel rim) One nut (external to wheel rim) One valve cap (obvious) Ther is no spacer with this assembly and the assembly appears a little deep inside the rim.

Hi everyone can anyone tell me the correct colour for a 199a and a 198a? Not sure if they are all blue or all red or silver or......! The 199a looks like the frame is light blue, with matching tank, but the bottom of the forks are just polished! The 198a's frame looks silver with light blue tank? the forks at the bottom are black! The 198 has a polished bottom end with a black top where as the 199 has a black bottom and a polished top! Anyone tell me the colour codes as I am just going to send the frames for painting. Bit naughty but has anyone got a mag outer cover with the thumbs up sign on for one of these as one of them is beyond repair. Also any side panels. I…

My mate and I are at logger heads. I have a 159 Sherpa T I'm overhauling to ride . My current stead is a Italjet 350T. But decided to get a bully. Now do I fit the genuine tank to my restoration project or do I go with the later plastic tank and seat from a later bike. Parts are easier to get for a 199. My problem is that the bike was fitted with a '71 tank and unknown seat. Possibly alpina? I want to fit the 199 tank but my mate say's I should keep the bike original.I don't have a 159 tank. He does have a spare but won't part with it.Do you think if I broke into his shed and took it , he'd notice? Well what are the benefit's of fitting the fibreglass tank versus the pla…

Have had this bike for a few years now, and have decided to put it into action. i have a few questions that i hope can be answered please. (1) the bike is fitted with elect ignition and different flywheel (see photo) - can anybody tell where the flywheel has come from please. (2) does anybody know the weight of a std 325cc flywheel please - would like to compare with the one fitted. (3) is the miller frame geo any different to the standard please, or just better material - i'm pretty sure that the rake and trail are the same (sammy's input on the std frame). the rear triangle section looks slightly different. (3) also do you think this bike has anymore value than a s…

I've got an early Sherpa 250 that I want to restore but I'm a little unsure of the exact year, can anybody date this frame no for me? B-1000550 I'm thinking it's a 66 but don't really know, the bike has the alloy rims, the tank was made in red gel coat then painted the Bultaco blue colour (was this standard practise?) Unfortunately the engine has gone "walkabout" but I know it was a radial head 4 speed. The bike was never road registered, when new it was 1st prize in a trial in Aberystwyth (mid Wales) and the lucky winner didn't want it so sold it to the person I bought it off, I then left it in a barn for the last 18 years! (yes I know shame on me!)
