Noticed a few posts on here regarding BB kits for the 4RT but does anyone know of any such thing for a 315R? Would like a few more horses for our outfit cause it's not as much 'fun' to ride as my old 323 Contact!! Just wondering in a moment of silliness if there is anything out there? Ride on!

Wondering what grade plug everyone uses, i have a 03 montesa and the manual says to use a 6, but in the past ive been using anything from a 6 to a 9? For some reason a 6 sounds a bit soft??????

just had a friend on the phone, who is in the process of putting his 1976 Montesa 247 Ulf Karlsson replica back together. There is some wear on the barrel, so looking to bore out to first overbore, 0.20mm, but is having problems getting a piston ? any ideas ? AFAIK slighty unique piston, with a rectangular hole in the rear skirt . Thanks

Will it fit? Different spacers? I know the rear sprocket fitting is a 6 hole on a 315R and a 4 hole on a 4RT, but is the rear hub wider too Only that I've got a brand new 315R wheel/tyre/disc/sprocket sat in the garage loft and wanted to see if it'll fit my 4RT Any help greatly appreciated from those in the know

Hi, What do you think of the above as a first bike for a 13st adult compared to a Sherco 250 2004 or a 99 Cota 315 RX? Are the R and RX the same bike? Any known faults to look for? Thanks,

Hi folks. Any advice, help, tips, general good natured banter on the best method of bleeding brakes on a 2004 Mont? After a couple of major AOT's and a severe argument with a tree during which my hand came of 'slightly worse for wear, at the weekend I have a spongy front and almost non existant back brake - almost a non existant back into the bargain as I don't bounce like I used to and sidecars ain't that much lighter these days! Back brake was poor from the off which I originally put down to new pads needing some time to bed in. As usaul any help/tips would be very much appreciated and hopefully I won't have to spend all day Saturday in a cold, wet, dark garage - again!…

I have recently bought a 98 315 fitted with the Paoli forks, but have no manual. When purchased all the suspension settings were backed off, can anyone help with a suggested starting point (for reference the rider is no featherweight).

I have recently acquired a 2000 cota 315r, along with a manual, but it turns out the manual is for a '99. I know that the '99 forks are very different from '00 forks, but I don't know about the shock. Anyway, since I can't rely on my manual, here are my questions: 1) The rebound damping adjuster (purple thingy) turns round and round, and never reaches a stop in either direction. That contradicts the way clickers work on all other bikes that I've owned. Is my clicker broken? 2) On the opposite side of the clicker is a screw-in plug. I unscrewed it, but all I see is a solid dead end. What is the function of this plug? 3) How do you remove the shock spring? Do y…

I am trying to get my Montesa Cota 350 clutch to work perfectly...ha ha. The clutch drags when it is cold so the cable has to be tightened too much. When the bike is hot, the clutch works good and the cable can be loosened a little. Sadly, I have a bit of experience with the Montesa clutches but I

I am rebuilding a 84 Cota 200 and am having some carburation woes. Talking to a friend he pointed out that I am using a modern synthetic oil at 50:1 which means the fuel is less viscous than the standard jetting was set for back in the 80's at 25:1. Has anyone esle experience of changing to modern oils at a higher ratio and what jetting changes did you need to make to compensate? many thanks, Gary,

Hi All...I wondered if someone could provide some advice please. The right fork seal on my 98 315r is leaking again after it was replaced only about a year ago. Since then it has only done about 15 trials... There are no scratches or dinks on the slider.... Are these forks easy to dismantle and check. The last time it was replaced it was done by my local Trials shop so I don't think it has been botched... Any thoughts ideas would be much appreciated.

I'm sure this topic was discussed before, but search doesn't come up with anything relevant for some reason. So here is my question: I have a 2000 cota 315r. What the heck is in that mid box? I am talking about the portion of exhaust that is between header pipe and silencer, i.e. what would normally be considered an expansion chamber. It weighs a ton! What is between the outer aluminum welded case and the perforated inner tube? Is it packing like in the silencer, and if so, then how do I repack it? Or is it just a huge amount of carbon buildup? Can the perforated innards be removed?
